Saturday (4 p.m. - 12 a.m.) and Sunday (4 p.m. - 9 p.m.), the stadium expects 15,000 visitors hoping to experience that magic of bustling nighttime markets in big cities throughout Asia.The market first launched in 2013 at Kearny Mesa's Zion Market, only expecting about 2,000 attendees. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - In a few days, the San Diego Air & Space Museum will become the first museum in Balboa Park to reopen amid the pandemic."Very, very anxious to get back to business ... We are ready to go," said Jim Kidrick, President of the San Diego Air & Space Museum.Among the precautions: masks, social distancing, and fewer people. The museum will be at operating at 30% visitor capacity. You'll see hand sanitizer everywhere and a lot of plexiglass when interacting with staff."We want to make sure guests not just visually feel good, but also feel good as they experience the Air & Space Museum," said Kidrick.One of the big challenges for any museum will be visitor interactions with exhibits and touchscreens. Here, each visitor will be handed a stylus pen."Any moment with interactivity where they would normally push with their finger, they can push with their stylus," said Kidrick.One precaution visitors won't see will happen at the staff entrance. Employees will be funneled toward a mounted, state-of-the-art thermal imaging scanner."You walk up to it and frames your face. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Local nurses are rallying for more protective equipment at our hospitals. 10News spoke with healthcare workers treating patients with coronavirus who say they're terrified for their own safety. ICU nurse, Michael Kennedy, describes what it's like on the front lines of Covid-19 at UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest. "As you can imagine it is kind of chaotic," said Kennedy. "We're basically having to beg for masks."He, like many other health care workers, is raising a sobering flag, saying they do not have enough face masks to protect themselves. Kennedy says they've been instructed to wear bandanas instead. USCD nurses held a rally to fight back against the shortage Friday morning. "We’re already rationing supplies and we are not getting the kind of transparency we need from UCSD, from state and local officials about what we have."It's a problem reported nationwide. The demand for personal protective equipment is soaring past supply. Here in San Diego, 10News has covered stories of the community coming together to fix that problem by donating supplies and even sewing together homemade masks. County Supervisor Greg Cox acknowledged the problem at a press conference Thursday. "We had a problem with the N95 masks that were in short supply," said Cox. Kennedy is now hoping the problem doesn't get even worse. "If we experience a surge tomorrow, would we have the kinds of things we need or would we be wearing trash bags?10News reached out to UCSD who provided the following statement from Michelle Brubaker, Associate Director of Communications and Media:"Currently, UC San Diego Health has sufficient supplies of personal protective equipment, including masks and respirators, to meet the needs for patients and health workers alike.But like all health systems across the region and country, we are pursuing every avenue to diversify and increase our supply and to ensure continuing, effective levels of protection, not just in the moment but for weeks and months to come. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Iconic TV host Regis Philbin, who has roots in San Diego television history, has died at the age of 88, multiple news outlets report.According to a family statement obtained by PEOPLE, Philbin passed away from natural causes Friday night.Philbin returned to his roots in 2018 with a visit to 10News.After a stint in the United States Navy, he moved to San Diego where he launched a career in broadcast. The icon was briefly a news anchor in San Diego when Channel 10, at the time known as KOGO, approached him about taking over as an anchor of the evening news.PHOTOS: Former 10News anchor Regis Philbin visits the 10News crew"This was the beginning of it all," Philbin said upon beginning his tour. He was able to book many top celebrities including Jerry Lewis, Ronald Reagan, Danny Thomas, and Liberace.His talk show, which was produced at the now KGTV studios from 1961 to 1965, aired live from 11:30 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. every Saturday night."The show became a big hit so it was time to go to Hollywood, I guess, so I did," said Philbin.Philbin moved his show to Los Angeles, before being hired in 1967 as the sidekick for a national talk show, "The Joey Bishop Show." SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Lifeguards say two people were rescued from a trail in the Blacks Beach area on Sunday in separate incidents.The first involved a woman who injured her ankle, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue. The woman was about half-way down before being injured. Lifeguards put her on a stretcher and used ropes to lower her down to the beach. She was taken by lifeguards to meet paramedics.The second occurred on the same trail, involving a woman suffering from heat exhaustion. She was unable to make it down the rest of the trail, requiring lifeguards to hoist her to the beach below to get her to paramedics.Lifeguards said with Labor Day weekend approaching and a heatwave expected next weekend, they are reminding visitors to local trails to know their limits, wear proper footwear for uneven beach terrain, and make sure they have plenty of water.Beach lifeguards say they don't expect to see crowds slow down anytime soon. 945
