Thousands of pro-gun rights activists converged around the Virginia Capitol on Monday to voice opposition to gun control legislation proposed by the Democratic-held legislature.Among the vocal critics of the bills were members of law enforcement, who used their official office to advocate against some of the proposals. They saw what happened, and they were appalled. So they changed the legislature. And here we are,” Northam said. While a bill to ban assault weapons was dropped earlier last week, other bills are still being considered. One is limiting the purchases of firearms to one a month.Earlier this month, Northam signed legislation to prohibit firearms inside of the Capitol building and an adjacent legislative office building.
