FBI Director Chris Wray told senators Wednesday that the FBI's investigation into Christine Blasey Ford's sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was "limited in scope" and thus "consistent with the standard process."Ford accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her at a house party when the two were in high school. Both Ford and Kavanaugh testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee last month, prompting the weeklong FBI investigation and hundreds to protest on Capitol Hill. The Senate reviewed the FBI's findings after they were sent it last Thursday and confirmed Kavanaugh by a 50-48 vote Saturday afternoon. Kavanaugh has denied all allegations against him.During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday, California Democrat Sen. ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) – Police in Escondido have identified the suspect shot and killed by an officer at Valley View Casino Saturday night as Osbaldo Ramirez Jimenez, 50.The incident began after police received a domestic disturbance call on the 1400 block of Timber Glen Road in Escondido.When they arrived, police say the suspect got into a vehicle and led them on a chase that ended at the casino’s valet entrance.RELATED: Officer-involved shooting reported at Valley View Casino in North San Diego County?When Jimenez got out of the vehicle, police say they noticed he was holding a handgun when the officer-involved shooting took place. Jimenez was taken to the hospital where he later died. Authorities also identified the officer involved in the shooting as Officer Terrence Pizzuti, who they say has been with the department since 2013.The incident reportedly caused chaos inside the casino. One woman inside at the time of the shooting was trampled. She was taken to the hospital where she is expected to survive.The San Diego Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation. ENCINITAS (CNS) - A man was killed after being hit by an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train in Encinitas Saturday morning, sheriff's deputies said.It happened at about 5:30 a.m. on the tracks near the intersection of San Elijo Avenue and Cornish Drive in Encinitas, according to Deputy Christopher Campbell of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.The train had been heading north at about 60-65 mph when the train engineer noticed a man running toward the tracks from the east, Campbell said. The engineer sounded the train's horn, but the man continued running toward thetracks and dove in front of the oncoming train. The engineer activated the train's brakes but wasn't able to stop in time.Authorities pronounced the man dead at the scene, Campbell said. His identity wasn't immediately released.The train involved in the crash was delayed for about three hours, according to the Pacific Surfliner Twitter page. At least four other trains were also delayed while authorities investigated the crash. 1011

(KGTV) - The 'Golden State Killer' arrest is shining the spotlight on a controversial DNA search known as Familial DNA.    In the summer of 2013, local communities were gripped by fear amid a string of unspeakable crimes.An unknown culprit dubbed 'The Creeper' entered five homes in Escondido and one in San Marcos, cutting screens, cutting the clothes of little girls and molesting them while they slept.The suspect left DNA at several scenes, but a search turned up no matches.  Ultimately the case went cold until detectives applied to the State Department of Justice - for a DNA familial search.In 2015, the mystery DNA profile was linked to somebody already in the system, a close relative of the suspect."They were able to determine through a familial search who the suspect likely was," said Deputy District Attorney Ryan Saunders.That suspect was Gilbert Chavarria, who recently pleaded guilty to a host of charges.  He was sentenced to 100 years to life in prison."Police did an excellent job gathering the evidence, but the leads were exhausted. Without the familial searches, we'd still be on our hands waiting," said Saunders.It marked the first use of the search in a local case.  Amid concerns from privacy advocates, Governor Brown in 2008 enacted a policy that familial DNA would be used only as a last resort.It's been rarely used but did provide the break in several serial killer cases, including the 'Grim Sleeper' case and now, the 'Golden State Killer' case.  In the latter, the mystery DNA was linked to a familial profile from an ancestry website.Some law enforcement experts tell 10News the recent cases could lead to a lot more requests for the DNA search.  Familial DNA also provided the break in the infamous 'BTK' serial killer case in Kansas. 1858
