Thomson International issued a voluntary recall Saturday for thousands of pounds of onions due to possible salmonella contamination.The recall includes red, yellow, white and sweet yellow varieties.The recall came a day after the CDC issued a food safety alert for onions produced by the company after nearly 400 people from 34 states had been sickened with salmonella. People older than 65 and younger than 5 are more likely to suffer severe illness.The onions were sold under the following brand names: Thomson Premium, TLC Thomson International, Tender Loving Care, El Competitor, Hartley’s Best, Onions 52, Majestic, Imperial Fresh, Kroger, Utah Onions and Food Lion. 1778

Thomas Magnum has lost his sidekick. John Hillerman, the actor who played Magnum P.I. sidekick Jonathan Higgins, died on Thursday at the age of 84. According to TMZ, he died at his home in Houston. The cause of his death is unknown. Hillerman's portrayal of Higgins was plotted as a foil for the title character in Magnum P.I., which ran for eight seasons on CBS. Hillerman won an Emmy Award in 1987 for his performance. Besides his role on Magnum P.I., Hillerman appeared in nearly two dozen feature films, and even more television shows. Thomas Lane, one of the four former Minneapolis officers arrested in connection with the death of George Floyd, posted bail on Wednesday according to jail records.Lane was among the three officers who were charged with aiding and abetting a murder. The fourth officer, Derek Chauvin, was charged with murder.Lane's bail was set at 0,000 following his arrest last week.Lane was on his fourth day with the Minneapolis Police when Floyd died in his custody. It refers to removing support for a public figure or leader in response to that person’s objectionable behavior or opinions. Removing support can include boycotts, canceling appearances or performances, refusing to promote that person’s work, etc.The phrase cancel culture has come into being the last few years to talk about actions being taken during movements like #MeToo, #BlackLivesMatter and other social justice conversations that are demanding greater accountability from public figures and a reckoning with their past comments or behaviors.
