SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Surveillance pictures were released Tuesday of a woman who San Diego Police believe struck a parked car and critically injured her passenger in Lincoln Park.The crash happened just before 5 a.m. on the 500 block of South 47th St.A woman driving a gray 2010 Mazda 3 moved to the right side of the road and struck an unoccupied, parked SUV, police said.The crash caused a 79-year-old man who was in the back seat of the Mazda to be thrown forward, striking the front passenger’s seat. The man was not wearing a seatbelt. Police said he is not expected to survive significant head and neck injuries.A 39-year-old man who was sitting in the back seat of the Mazda suffered minor injuries.Police said the female driver walked away from the scene before officers arrived. She is described as African-American and in her 50s. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Sunday morning's rain caused crashes on roadways, damage to construction zones and danger in Sunset Cliffs.One of those crashes had Cristal Ramirez in the passenger seat. "I was supposed to drive for brunch but my friend picked us up and I was glad because I didn't want to drive in the rain," she said.She said as they took the connector from the 163 to the I-8 West they started sliding, "I think we were driving a little too fast because of the rain." Ramirez said they grazed the guardrail. The tires were out of alignment, making it necessary to call for a tow truck."We were like what the heck this is wild!" She said.The group didn't let the accident ruin their afternoon, they continued on in Ramirez's car to Sunset Cliffs.The danger still lurking behind yellow caution tape, draped along the edge of one part of the cliff. From where she and her two friends stood, you could see the cliff carved away underneath the seemingly solid edge."I didn't think about it, I was like 'Oh we're close to the edge.' and we started playing around and I was like, 'Oh we probably shouldn't be playing this close to the edge," Ramirez said when she realized the danger.South of Sunset Cliffs, another problem at the Silver Strand State Beach exit off SR 75. The rain caused metal plates covering trenches in a construction area to bend inward.Crews rushed out to reinforce the plates to make them safe, adding wood supports. An engineer told 10News the construction should be finished by next week, if the weather doesn't delay the work. 1559

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The county Sheriff's Department is offering free in-home safety inspections to San Diegans in their patrol areas. On Thursday, 10News tagged along for an inspection at Robin and Mike Judd's home in Santee. "It's a concern, in today's world, security, how safe are you? And you can never be too safe," Robin said. Crime prevention specialists Mike Mateo and Monica Cordero spent about an hour inside the home, pointing out potential flaws concerning locks, lighting, and outdoor decorations that could be used to break windows.The duo also gave information on crime prevention and neighborhood watch programs to use as preventative measures to local crime.To arrange for an in-home inspection, San Diegans can call their local sheriff's substation and ask for crime prevention.You can find a list of the contacts here. 846

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The city of San Diego has turned to two community leaders to assist with gang prevention and improve communication between police and the community.Mayor Kevin Faulconer on Tuesday announced the hiring of Rev. Gerald Brown to oversee police-community relations, and Pastor Jesus Sandoval to lead its commission on gang prevention."At age 16 I had been shot and stabbed, didn't think I would make it to 18," said Sandoval, once in a gang himself. "Since then I've been dedicating my life to helping other people."Brown will take over the Citizens Advisory Board on Police-Community relations, which meets monthly at various locations in the city. He said he is already working on arranging for clergy to spend 10 hours a month with police.Brown also wants to make himself accessible to the community and says he will bring concerns directly to the chief of police. "Really focus on how do we bring communities together? How do we bridge that gap, especially when working with African American community and law enforcement, find ways we can seek peace," he said. But some say the city needs to do more. Kate Yavenditti is a member of Women Occupy San Diego, which is seeking more police oversight. She said she has been attending the police-community relations meetings for about two years and hasn't seen many results.She said she would like the groups to be more than just advisory."So they can send recommendations up to the mayor and the mayor doesn't have to make any changes, and that's pretty much what's been happening," she said.The police-community relations board next meets 6 p.m. Monday at the Taylor Branch Library in Pacific Beach.    1706

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Medical Board of California (MBC) has filed an order to revoke the license of Dr. Jeffrey Lovin, a San Diego County radiologist who’s facing charges related to prowling and peeking.ABC 10News first reported on Dr. Lovin last year after his ex-girlfriend shared home security video of a man lurking in her North County backyard while she and her fiancé were inside. She said the man in the video is Dr. Lovin.He’s been charged with multiple counts related to prowling and peeking and violating a protective order. He’s pleaded not guilty and will stand trial next March.Dr. Lovin was already on probation with the MBC for other criminal activity.The Board has now issued an order to revoke his license on Dec. 18 for mental or physical impairment and unprofessional conduct by failing to comply with the terms of his probation.“We never know if we're safe,” his ex-girlfriend told ABC 10News on Tuesday. We’re not using her name or showing her face. She said that she and her fiancé Frank Zeigler still live in fear. “I hear any noise at night and I'm out front seeing what's going on at my home,” he said and added, “We lock all our doors and keep all our blinds closed around the clock.”“We want him to lose his license so he doesn’t do this to anybody else and we feel like this is the first step toward a little justice,” Zeigler later added.On Tuesday, ABC 10News spoke to someone at the law office that has represented Dr. Lovin. She declined to connect us to with him to see if he wanted to offer any comment.On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Board wrote to ABC 10News, “Dr. Jeffrey Lovin may practice medicine under the terms of his current probation until the revocation of his license takes effect on Dec. 18, 2020.
