SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The Friar Faithful won’t be able to attend games in Texas to cheer on their San Diego Padres, but fans can support the squad in this week’s National League Division Series games at Petco Park while in their cars.The Padres’ drive-in watch events will take place at Petco Park’s Tailgate Lot at 1301 K Street.The first game of the best-of-five series against the NL West rival Los Angeles Dodgers is set for Tuesday, Oct. 6. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and the series will be played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.Games will be shown on three separate large LED video screens, and fans who attend are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and don brown and gold in support of the team.Part of the drive-in experience includes dining options for four, a reusable bag with four rally towels, a car flag, and four hats.The team is reminding those who attend that health and safety measures will be in place, such as guests remaining in their vehicles unless they are visiting a retailer onsite or using a restroom.Face masks are required for all fans; the team says all staff members at the event will be wearing masks and conducting routine cleaning.There will be 20 feet of space between vehicles to promote more social distancing.Jaclyn Lash, the Padres’ Vice President of Special Events, said, “We’re still in a pandemic, we did everything we did that people stayed in their car or wore a mask. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The heads of several of California's major theme parks voiced their disapproval on Wednesday with California's recently release theme park guidance. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The all-clear was given after a suspicious device forced the evacuation of a building at San Diego City College Monday. The device was reported Monday afternoon in or near Building A, according to the school. The building serves as administrative offices. The college says no classes were affected by the evacuation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The city is running behind on a project to restore an iconic bridge that borders Hillcrest and North Park.Now, people in the area are growing frustrated at the construction on the Georgia St. bridge that's causing traffic delays and drivers to use surrounding neighborhoods as shortcuts."Traffic is very very bad because of te bridge, and I have to go around to buy stuff for my shop, and it's taking me longer to get where I want to go," said Milan Misic, who lives in the area and owns the Balboa Perk coffee and antique shop. The city is restoring the 103-year-old bridge so it can withstand an earthquake. The city broke ground on the million project in July 2016, saying it would take a year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The first round of artists for San Diego’s Wonderfront music festival, supported by the star power of Tony Hawk, Trevor Hoffman, and Rob Machado, was announced Monday. The event will take place on seven stages in parks and on piers along the Port of San Diego, from South Embarcadero up to Broadway Pier. Wonderfront is scheduled for Nov. 22-24, 2019, the weekend before Thanksgiving. Wonderfront organizers plan to mix well-known stars with local favorites and emerging artists. “Our goal with this lineup was to have it stacked from start to finish each day with great artists. It’s hard to really call any certain bands our so-called headliners as so many lines of bands on this festival are all headliners in their own right,” said Wonderfront co-founder Paul Thornton. The first round of artists, announced Monday, include Miguel, Slightly Stoopid, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, MGMT, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Nicky Jam, Don Omar, Vince Staples, Tyga, Los Angeles Azules, Tucanes de Tijuana, Walk the Moon, Phantogram, X Ambassadors, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Lil Dicky, Big Gigantic, and Pennywise.
