Refrigerator and freezer doors should also be kept closed and all unnecessary lighting should be turned off, health and safety permitting.The company suggested customers also reduce their water use due to the need for electricity to pump and process water. For electric vehicle owners, charging should be delayed if possible until after the emergency shutoffs, SDG&E said.SDG&E offers more safety tips to keep in mind during an outage here.Friday marked the first time since 2011 that California has ordered rolling power outages.According to SDG&E, the Flex Alert until Monday night was issued earlier to warn people to conserve energy, but because there wasn't enough energy conserved the state decided to issue rolling outages.SDG&E added that San Diego County's backcountry and rural areas will not be affected in the foreseeable future because they are high fire risk areas. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Humane Society officials are searching for the person responsible for abandoning a dog in a San Pasqual Valley canyon recently.A grove manager at Bandy Canyon found the neglected dog Friday, according to society officials. The male dog appeared to be an about 2-year-old pit bull mix.The dog was taken to the humane society's Escondido campus, where a veterinary team gave it IV fluids and placed it on a heated bed, as its temperature was low.Because of the dehydrated, neglected condition of the dog, the society's law enforcement arm has opened a felony animal cruelty investigation.Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or SDHS law enforcement at 619-299-7012.This week's incident is the third similar incident to occur in the last month. In February, nine puppies were found abandoned at Kit Carson Park in a dog food bag. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Renters in the city of San Diego will have one final day to apply for emergency financial assistance.The deadline to apply for the city’s one-time program, which provides up to ,000 per household, is Friday, Aug. 7.Families with past due or upcoming rent payments are eligible, and payments for those who are selected are expected to be distributed in the next few weeks.Each household has to provide documentation to prove they are not currently receiving any rental subsidies. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and President Trump may have met in the Oval Office Tuesday, but their accounts of what was discussed differ.Faulconer visited the White House this week to discuss the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement and raise concerns over polluted water flowing in the Tijuana River Valley. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Residents may be seeing Uber delivery drones in San Diego's skies as soon as this year.Uber Elevate, Uber's drone and air transportation leg, announced this week during the Forbes’ 30 under 30 Summit that the company will begin testing Uber Eats delivery drones in summer 2020. The company added, though, that delivery service using partner drone operators could come in the coming months.A rendering of the Uber Eats drone shows six-rotors will allow the drone to take off and land vertically, with the ability to rotate to provide more lift and speed. The drone is designed to carry a meal for two people.Uber Elevate says the drone is designed to travel a total of 18 miles or 12 miles round-trip. The company says the drone is equipped to cruise below 400 feet and comply with existing regulations to operate the aircraft.The company estimates the drone can perform a delivery in eight minutes, including time to load and unload.The company says the design has passed the design review phase and is expected to fly before the end of the year. 1073
