SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The Friar Faithful won’t be able to attend games in Texas to cheer on their San Diego Padres, but fans can support the squad in this week’s National League Division Series games at Petco Park while in their cars.The Padres’ drive-in watch events will take place at Petco Park’s Tailgate Lot at 1301 K Street.The first game of the best-of-five series against the NL West rival Los Angeles Dodgers is set for Tuesday, Oct. 6. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and the series will be played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.Games will be shown on three separate large LED video screens, and fans who attend are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and don brown and gold in support of the team.Part of the drive-in experience includes dining options for four, a reusable bag with four rally towels, a car flag, and four hats.The team is reminding those who attend that health and safety measures will be in place, such as guests remaining in their vehicles unless they are visiting a retailer onsite or using a restroom.Face masks are required for all fans; the team says all staff members at the event will be wearing masks and conducting routine cleaning.There will be 20 feet of space between vehicles to promote more social distancing.Jaclyn Lash, the Padres’ Vice President of Special Events, said, “We’re still in a pandemic, we did everything we did that people stayed in their car or wore a mask. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The city is running behind on a project to restore an iconic bridge that borders Hillcrest and North Park.Now, people in the area are growing frustrated at the construction on the Georgia St. bridge that's causing traffic delays and drivers to use surrounding neighborhoods as shortcuts."Traffic is very very bad because of te bridge, and I have to go around to buy stuff for my shop, and it's taking me longer to get where I want to go," said Milan Misic, who lives in the area and owns the Balboa Perk coffee and antique shop. The city is restoring the 103-year-old bridge so it can withstand an earthquake. The city broke ground on the million project in July 2016, saying it would take a year. But now it won't be finished until next spring.A city spokesman says the delays are because of weather, and unanticipated cobbles and deposits crews discovered in the bridge walls, making drilling more difficult.He added that there is no threat to public safety and it will not raise the cost.You can track the project on the city's website.   1092

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The first-ever professional sports event to be held on an active military base will be held in San Diego this February.As a special thank you to the military, the San Diego Seals pro lacrosse team will play a regular season game on the flight line of MCAS Miramar on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, against the Vancouver Warriors. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The family of a Navy sailor nearly killed in Syria is starting the new year with one less challenge.Over a year ago Navy EOD Tech Kenton Stacy was left paralyzed after an IED explosion. As Stacy was recovering in San Diego, renters were destroying the family’s Virginia home. “Just with everything we’re going through, it added stress. I just couldn’t believe how someone could damage our home and be okay with it,” said Kenton’s wife Lindsey.The home reeked of cigarettes, and the carpet, walls, and blinds were destroyed. When the EOD community in Virginia learned what happened in November they began to make repairs on the home.Julie Fish, a real estate agent with Signature Realty Select, also stepped in to help, taking over as the realtor.After reaching out for more help, people around the country offered money, time, services and resources. “These guys are...it’s like a brotherhood, there’s nothing they wouldn’t do for one another, and I like to think the wives are the same way,” said Fish, whose husband is also a Navy EOD Tech. Researchers estimate Americans will spend more than 0 billion in retail this year, which means they need to staff seasonal workers ahead of the shopping rush. Macy’s announced they are looking for 80,000 seasonal workers. The Gap Company will hire 65,000 people. Target plans to add 120,000 seasonal team members this year, up 20% from last year. In San Diego County alone, Target plans to add 1,200 people to their staff this season. “I’m going full time at SDSU, and I knew that I was definitely looking for some work,” Elizabeth Gonzalez said. 10News Gonzalez at the Mission Valley Target’s hiring fair Saturday morning.
