LAS VEGAS — Neighbors in the southwest part of Las Vegas are fed up over the wild scenes playing out in their area which have included flame throwers, rocket launchers, strippers and buses full of people as the Strip's night and day clubs remain closed. For weeks, Las Vegas police have been dealing with a sharp rise in complaints regarding "party houses," some of which have been the scenes for shootings and murders.Neighbors near one home on Sunset Road and Jones Boulevard say they are living next to a nightmare."It's a party going madhouse out here," Tony Grant said.Grant and his wife Nanette, who is battling breast cancer, say the for past six months, people have been arriving to their neighborhood by bus, car and rideshares.Videos shows dozens, if not hundreds, of people at the home, which at times includes laser light shows, loud music and nearly-naked women.Online, the venue is billed as a day and nightclub available for gatherings and parties for ,500 a day."There's fire-based entertainment, including flamethrowers, and rocket launchers that are being set off within obviously 10- to 15-feet of 50-foot pine trees and homes," Hadas Grant said.Online records show Las Vegas police have taken more than a half dozen reports for "disturbing the peace" in the 5800 block of Patrick Lane since April 2020.Records obtained by Clark County show authorities have placed administrative actions on the home, and fines have totaled 0.The Grants say the gatherings have continued."On the day the citation was placed on the door, that Tuesday night was one of the largest gatherings or events that they've ever had, they're laughing in the face of code enforcement," Tony Grant said.Interview requests to the group promoting the gatherings were not returned. But the home and the California-based owner are all over the county's radar with an active investigation, according to authorities."The girls that we see walking in and out, a lot of them are dressed in a G string and a top," Nanette Grant said. The Grants are fed up and fear it may only be a matter of time before one of the parties get really out of control, and someone gets hurt.Las Vegas police recently announced that at least 15 shootings and three other homicides at short-term rentals have occurred during recent months. This story was originally published by Joe Bartels on KTNV in Las Vegas. 2381

LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — A family is grief stricken after their elderly mother's wedding ring vanished last weekend.Daughter Leanne Farrell said she took her dad to urgent care Friday and then went to work. A nurse who cares for her parents noticed Saturday the ring was missing."There were about 4 people in and out [when] the ring disappeared and it wasn't easy to get off," she said. She doesn't believe her mother lost her ring. She said it's been on her hand for 61 years, only removed from her finger for a repair or the rare cleaning. She said they tore the house apart searching for the ring and found nothing."I can't be here 24/7 for them you know? Because I have to work and you hope the people that come in to care for them, care for them like you would," she said wiping away tears. The ring went missing just a day after her parent's 61st wedding anniversary. Her father, Ken Clody's, leg was amputated after a fall two years ago and recently had to change the hours caregivers come and go to ensure he and his wife are taken care of. He also suffers Primary Lateral Sclerosis, making it hard to communicate.Farrell explained her mother has dementia and sleeps most of the day, "she can't explain anything, she can't explain who took it, when they took it, because you can see she's not with us really much anymore."Her father said he bought the ring for 0, in 1957.Farrell described the ring as two white gold bands soldered together with three diamonds, the center just larger than the others. Farrell said it's not the price they're upset by, but the sentimental value."Oh I just hope they put it in an envelope and mail it back, the money doesn't matter just the ring," she said crying. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is investigating the loss. They have a detective on the case interviewing the caregivers who were in the home at the time the ring went missing. 10News spoke with the care-giving company who said they interviewed their employees and said those employees hadn't seen the ring.10News did not name the company as law enforcement said they are not suspected of any wrongdoing. Clody said via email several other items went missing during the same time period, but that they were easily replaceable. The health care company called 10News late Thursday saying a couple of their employees said Mrs. Clody would take the ring off and play with it and leave it places. 2414

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Trailing by double-digits for the second straight day at the Mountain West Conference tournament, the Nevada Wolf Pack rallied again. But this time against San Diego State and without starter Jordan Caroline, the No. 14 Wolf Pack ran out of gas with seven minutes left Friday night. The Aztecs took advantage.Devin Watson had 20 points and five assists and San Diego State held Nevada scoreless for a late 7:06 stretch a 65-56 victory in the Mountain West Conference semifinals.Jalen McDaniels added 12 points and 10 rebounds for fourth-seeded San Diego State (21-12). The Aztecs will play the Fresno State-Utah State winner in the championship game Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center."We're playing good basketball right now," San Diego State coach Brian Dutcher said. "What that means for tomorrow, I don't know. And if we do enough right things, we'll give ourselves a chance to make it back to the NCAA Tournament again."San Diego State also had a home victory over Nevada on Feb. 20, but lost to the Wolf Pack in Reno last Saturday."It was not revenge," Watson said. "I feel like every time we match up with Nevada it's going to be a great game and the fans love it. They play hard and they're a competitive team. We actually like playing them."Cody Martin led the top-seeded Wolf Pack (29-4) with 16 points and six rebounds, and Tre'Shawn Thurman had 11 points and 11 rebounds as Nevada awaits word on an NCAA Tournament berth.NO CAROLINECaroline, averaging 17.3 points and 9.6 rebounds, did not play due to an injury."Caroline was held out for precautionary reasons," Nevada coach Eric Musselman said. "It's been a long season. He's got a lingering injury and that's what it is."Dutcher made a few adjustments."Well, obviously, we were a bit surprised when Caroline wasn't in the lineup," he said. "But it's like anything else. It's a wounded animal. We knew they were dangerous anyways."AZTECS MAKE RUN, WOLF PACK RESPONDLeading 34-29 at halftime, the Aztecs kept momentum starting the second half on Watson's consecutive 3-pointers. And after Jeremy Hemsley's basket, San Diego State led 42-29.Nevada responded with an 18-4 run that included Caleb Martin's first point and first field goal, a 3-pointer with 12:01 left. Nevada took the lead on Cody Martin's fast-break layup with 10:02 left."We just hung in there," Dutcher said. "So every time we play them, it's a back-and-forth affair. No matter what kind of run they were on we kept looking at the scoreboard, it was a two-point game. So it wasn't like they ran out on us by 11 points."CALEB IN FOUL TROUBLE EARLYNevada's Caleb Martin committed two fouls in the first 1:04. He did not score in the half, only playing four minutes. There were eight lead changes and the game was tied for 6:17 of the first half before the Aztecs created a little distance at intermission."I had two all-league players not play in the first half. I thought our effort was phenomenal," Musselman said. "I think our record speaks for itself, the body of work in the non-conference, conference play. Unfortunately, we weren't fully healthy tonight."THE BIG PICTURESan Diego State: The Aztecs reached the MWC semifinals for the 12th consecutive season. They are 4-0 against Nevada in neutral-site games. San Diego State has won 23 straight games holding opponents under 60 points. With the 20th win of the season, the Aztecs have reached the mark in 13 of the past 14 seasons.Nevada: The Wolf Pack's 58 wins the past two seasons is their best in team history.
