(KGTV) - The California Department of Vehicles is reaching out to state residents to make sure they have a valid REAL ID ahead of the 2020 federal deadline. REAL ID cardholders who presented only one residency document when they applied must confirm their address by mail, DMV officials say. The DMV sent 3.6 million letters to cardholders, asking them to verify their mailing address and return the letter to the agency. Anyone who lost or did not receive a letter by Aug. 15 can request one through an online form, DMV officials say. Starting Oct. 1, 2020, all travelers must present a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or other TSA-approved identification, such as a passport or military ID, to fly within the United States. 736

Those should be sent no later Dec. 11 (for cards, letters and priority mail packages) and Dec. 18 (for priority mail express military service, available to most destinations.)USPS has also created military care kits, including several free postal items, to help send packages overseas. A 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit a remote part of Alaska on Sunday, according to the US Geological Survey.There have been no reports of injuries to people, or damage to places or pipelines, after the quake on Alaska's North Slope, according to the University of Alaska Fairbanks' Alaska Earthquake Center.The tiny town of Kaktovik is closest to the epicenter, about 52 miles away.There were several strong aftershocks following the quake, according to USGS data and the earthquake center. (KGTV) — Vista Unified School District is postponing the in-person reopening of two high schools after learning that hundreds of students attended at least two Halloween parties last month.A letter from district and school officials to parents said that students from Vista High School and Mission Vista High School attended two large parties over the weekend and didn't practice social distancing or mask requirements.Because of the reported parties, VUSD said it will reschedule the reopening of in-person classes at both schools until Monday, Nov. 16.
