LOS ANGELES (AP) — National Guard troops will be pulled out of California cities, including San Diego, where they’ve been deployed for a week after rampant violence and theft marred the first days of protests over the death of George Floyd. The announcement comes as peaceful demonstrations again emerged across the state.In San Diego County, about 100 National Guard troops had been stationed in La Mesa while another 100 were in an undisclosed area ready to move anywhere in the county. LONDON (AP) — Cinema chain Cineworld says it is considering closing all its movie theaters in Britain and the United States, after the postponement of the new James Bond film left a big hole in schedules. Cineworld Group PLC owns 543 Regal cinemas in the U.S. and 128 Cineworld venues in the U.K. and Ireland. It said Sunday it was "considering the temporary closure of our U.K. and U.S. cinemas, but a final decision has not yet been reached." The statement came after the Sunday Times reported that Cineworld's U.K. theaters will shut in the coming weeks. LOS ANGELES (KGTV) -- A 5.3 magnitude earthquake shook the Los Angeles area Thursday afternoon. According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake struck about 35 miles southwest of Channel Island Beach. At this time there are no reports of damage or injuries. The National Weather Service added that there is no risk for tsunami. Shortly after the quake, the Los Angeles Fire Department went into earthquake mode. According to the department, during earthquake mode, firefighters from all 106 neighborhood fire stations survey all 470 square miles in the greater Los Angeles area. The department says crews are now inspecting dams, power-lines and large places such as Dodger Stadium to ensure public safety.  772

Live Nation, the parent company of Ticket Master and the owner of dozens of concert venues across the country, said in a press release Wednesday that it was working with local governments in the hopes that its venues could be used as polling places in the upcoming election.So far, Live Nation says that four of its concert venues — The Wiltern and Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, Emo’s in Austin and the Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta — will be used as polling stations this November. A fifth venue, The Fillmore in Philadelphia, "is in the final stages of the vetting process."In addition, the company says it is working with local officials across the country to "determine the feasibility" of using 100-plus Live Nation venues as polling places. Live Nation did not specify which locations were being considered, or how many venues they believed would be approved as polling locations.Live Nation added it was partnering with More Than A Vote in their efforts to expand polling locations. More Than A Vote is a coalition of Black athletes led by LeBron James that are aiming to increase participation in the 2020 election among minorities.As part of an agreement to restart the 2020 NBA season, James and other players pushed for the league to adopt a provision in which it would explore ways that teams could use their arenas as polling places during the 2020 election. According to CBS News, about a dozen NBA arenas will host voters on election day, and several more will serve as early voting centers ahead of Nov. 3.However, several NBA teams have been told that they are not able to participate.
