CAMP PENDLETON (KGTV) - A training accident on Camp Pendleton that left several Marines with severe burns may have been caused by an exposed gas line, a report from the Washington Post indicated Friday.Camp Pendleton officials said Marines from 1st Marine Division were conducting "scheduled battalion training" on land when a vehicle caught fire September 12.The 15 Marines were taken to various area hospitals.The vehicle involved was identified as an Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV) used to transport Marines from sea to land. The AAV performed a maneuver which caused it to run over a gas line, sever it with its tire treads, and ignite the line, the Washington Post reported.The official report on the fire has not yet been released by the Marine Corps. 777

Cedar Point's newest roller coaster was shut down Saturday after two train cars bumped into each other.Witnesses said the cars were traveling at a slow rate of speed when the collision happened.According to witnesses, one of the carts made a "weird rattle noise" in the second-to-last corkscrew before entering the station. (KGTV) — The last two cottages to grace San Onofre Beach and replace the deteriorated trailers near Camp Pendleton will be dedicated Thursday.The Camp Pendleton Cottage Renovation Project has worked to replace 13 of the 30-year-old FEMA trailers at the beach with manufactured homes. The new cottages are build using metal roofs, composite siding, stainless-steel appliances, and furniture. Cottages are also constructed to include wheelchair accessibility, railings, and wider hallways for service members with special needs.
