Sales are surging at Stoddard’s Range and Guns. Long lines pack the Atlanta shooting range with people buying guns and ammunition.Co-owner Ken Baye says sales have soared since mid-March, when the pandemic hit. Now, he’s seeing a second wave of interest with more people now looking to learn how to use a firearm. That includes people like Michelle DeShields, an elementary school counselor. She's aiming to increase her personal safety during these uncertain times.“It’s just been scary with police brutality that we are looking at, even the protesting sometimes, you see it’s gotten a little out of hand,” she said. The National Shooting Sports Foundation reports background checks for firearms purchases saw record highs in April and May.And that millions of those people are new gun owners.DeShields' father was a military veteran and a police officer. So, she grew up with guns but never learned to use one until now.“I do feel like guns used safely for protection and they are a good thing,” she said.Though, her gun is something she hopes to never have to use outside of a shooting range. 1100

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A disheveled man stabbed two strangers within a block of each other Friday in North Park and failed to commandeer the second victim's car, authorities reported. The unidentified assailant -- who looked to be about 30 years old and homeless -- first attacked a 25-year-old pedestrian in the 4200 block of Ohio Street about 8 a.m., stabbing him in the leg and running into a nearby supermarket parking lot, according to San Diego police.A short time later, he tried to steal a 57-year-old man's car near the intersection of Howard Avenue and 30th Street, but when the victim resisted, the assailant stabbed him three or four times in the right arm, then fled on foot to the south, Sgt. Ed Zwibel said.Medics took the victims to a hospital for treatment of non-life- threatening wounds, Zwibel said. The suspect was described as a thin, roughly 5-foot-10-inch white man in a gray shirt. 907

SAN DIEGO — Two of San Diego's biggest restaurant groups are sounding the alarm over state Coronavirus regulations.Owners of the Brigantine Family of Restuarants and the Cohn Restaurant Group say indoor capacity limits aren't sustainable. Currently, a restaurant can only seat 25 percent of its capacity indoors. “If we stay open and as we enter the fall and winter months, our restaurants cannot survive on 25 percent," said Leslie Cohn, of the Cohn restaurant group. The Cohn Group spent more than 0,000 creating social distancing in 16 of its restaurants - before the 25 percent capacity limit was instituted. Their employment is now down 40 percent to about 1,200 workers.“We should be concentrating on positive test percentages, hospital capacity, ICU and PPE availability and of course mask wearing, social distancing and employee screening,” Cohn said. Her frustrations, echoed by Mike Morton, who heads the Brigantine Family of Restaurants, where employment is off 20 percent to 1,000 workers. Morton said there are now waits every Friday, Saturday and Sunday - due to the capacity restraints.“Guests are going to get tired of that, and what else is that going to do? It allows us to employ less people due to limited capacity,” Morton said. The 25 percent cap will last at least another three weeks. Only then may the county become eligible for the next lower tier, which would increase the cap to 50 percent - still a struggle in an industry famous for thin margins. 1484
