(AP) — Uber finally got its food delivery company, acquiring Postmates in a .65 billion all-stock deal, the ride-hailing giant has confirmed.The deal helps Uber and its Ubereats food-delivery division pick up some ground against industry leader DoorDash, which controls about 37% of the U.S. food delivery market. That’s compared with Uber Eats’ 20% share before the Postmates deal. (KGTV) - A beloved monitor lizard that slinked away from an East County pet store has been found."Bubbles," a six-year-old black-throated monitor lizard, disappeared from Mike's Pets in Spring Valley on Sunday, according to the store's owner Mike Estevez.Security camera footage inside the store captured Bubbles slip away out a back door and the cage propped against the open entrance.RELATED: Beloved lizard missing from Spring Valley pet storeEstevez told 10News that Bubbles was found Thursday by a volunteer searcher from Los Angeles. SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) -- A city of Solana Beach plan to redevelop part of the City Hall parking lot into affordable housing didn't generate any interest from developers. The city says not one builder responded to the request for proposals it issued last spring to build 19 affordable units on the City Hall property, which is across the street from its exclusive coastal bluffs. Solana Beach Mayor David Zito said it's hard to pinpoint why no developers were interested since none applied. "Projects that include affordable units can be more challenging to deal with due to potential local resistance," Zito said. "This provides an initial barrier that simply needs to be overcome. Developers would typically want the possibility of a greater return in order to take on additional risk and these types of projects typically provide less return."Zito added another issue was the requirement to keep the public parking at City Hall, which raised costs. Solana Beach, with a rent that averages more than ,000 a month, currently has zero affordable housing units. The coastal city approved a 10-unit complex down the block from City Hall in 2014. It survived a lengthy legal challenge but still has not broken ground largely due to funding. That has left many workers who have jobs in the city's restaurants, hotels and quaint shops to commute from far away, or to live in groups nearby."In my complex there's like four people living in a condo," said Mary Lou Bottino, who has lived in Solana Beach for more than 20 years. So much has changed from just one week before the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown hit New York City.Though a lot has changed, the NYPD’s “Options” program still persists.“Options” bridges relationships between police and some of the city’s toughest neighborhoods.With a rise in shootings and violence, it is needed now more than ever.Just a few weeks before a worldwide pandemic and months before nationwide unrest over racial injustice and police brutality, there was NYC youth engaging in candid conversations with members of the NYPD.The program has been two years running and bridges the gap between the police and the city’s dynamic youth.“This is the new era of neighborhood policing, and we see that NYC has to open up a lot more and really start listening to the youth of tomorrow,” Det. Jason Anazagasty said.A virtual reality program was also created, scripted and voiced by “Options” teens.It includes real-life scenarios that play out through a virtual reality headset.Their choices on how to handle cyberbullying, violence on the streets and so much are on full display — as are the consequences of those choices.Det. D.H. still says it was the hardest decision she has ever made in her life.We've heard from mothers who have adopted the babies placed in Safe Haven Baby Boxes, but for the first time, we're hearing from a mother on the other side of the box.D.H. is sharing her story to help fight the stigma that seems to follow the mothers who have surrendered their children."These mothers come from all walks of life," Monica Kelsey, founder of Safe Haven Baby Boxes, said. "We have had a Registered Nurse come through our program, a mom with four kids, a single mom, and career dads. This option of surrendering is available to anyone who finds themselves in a crisis if they feel this is the best option for them.""After a mom calls us, the first thing she wants to know is 'Is my baby safe and is my baby healthy'. That speaks volumes about these moms. "If I was going to try to do it … be a mom … and I just knew that I wasn't going to be capable of it. It wasn't possible. Financially, and all the things I was going through, I wasn't going to be able to do it."Weeks before she was due, D.H. found herself online researching what options she might have once the baby was born. She still hadn't told anyone she was pregnant."I'm still not sure how I kept it a secret," she said.D.H. was working long days —up to 14 hours at a time — throughout her pregnancy while she tried to get her life back in order. She still wasn't sure what to do about the child she would soon birth.Then one morning, just 30 minutes before she was supposed to be at work, the labor began.By the time D.H. thought about calling an ambulance, she knew she wouldn't make it to the hospital in time.After six hours of labor, she gave birth — alone — to a beautiful baby girl.She called her Mila. 2939
