We lost a Master of the @MasterChefJrFOX kitchen today. Ben you were an incredibly talented home cook and even stronger young man. Your young life had so many tough turns but you always persevered. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Miles Taylor, a former chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security, revealed Wednesday that he's the anonymous senior Trump administration official who wrote a scathing book last year that criticizes the president."Donald Trump is a man without character. It’s why I wrote “A Warning”...and it’s why me & my colleagues have spoken out against him (in our own names) for months," Taylor announced on Twitter. "It’s time for everyone to step out of the shadows."Read Taylor's full statement here.Taylor's anonymously written book “A Warning” paints a chilling portrait of President Donald Trump as cruel, inept and a danger to the nation he was elected to lead, The Washington Post reports. The book’s description on Amazon says it was meant to motivate readers to “consider how we judge our nation's leaders, and illuminate the consequences of re-electing a commander in chief unfit for the role.”The book was published in November 2019, more than a year after The New York Times published a bombshell op-ed essay by the same anonymous author. In the op-ed, the author claimed to be among a group of people in the White House who were working to keep Trump’s reckless impulses in check for the good of the country. As “part of the resistance inside the Trump administration,” the article’s author said the group believed Trump acts in a manner that is “detrimental to the health of our democracy” and that they vowed to do what they can to “preserve our democratic institutions.”The book and article have been criticized by the president and members of his administration. It also sparked a long guessing game in Washington to figure out who the author was.The Times reports that Taylor resigned from DHS in June 2019 and then went public with his criticism of Trump this past summer. He has since endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden for president. 1890

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Supreme Court has rejected the Trump administration's bid to throw out a California immigrant-sanctuary law that limits local police cooperation with federal immigration authorities. The justices' order Monday leaves in place lower court rulings that upheld the law.The administration said the 2017 state immigrant-sanctuary measure conflicts with federal immigration law and makes it harder to deport people who are in the country illegally.California Attorney General, Xavier Becerra, released a statement that said in part: "We’re protecting Californians’ right to decide how we do public safety in our state. The Trump Administration does not have the authority to commandeer state resources. We’re heartened by today’s Supreme Court decision."The San Diego County Sheriff's Department sent ABC 10News the following statement:"The Supreme Court decision not to hear a legal challenge to California's sanctuary law does not change or impact the operations of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Our agency is already in full compliance with SB54.We do not enforce immigration laws. We prioritize community relationships and want all residents to feel safe when reporting crimes or coming forward as a witness to criminal acts."The Sheriff's Department also sent the following documents related to the law:https://www.sdsheriff.net/documents/sb54.pdf [sdsheriff.net]https://www.sdsheriff.net/documents/SDSD%20Values%20Act%20Information%20Page.pdf [sdsheriff.net] 1502

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A group of former George W. Bush administration and campaign officials have launched a new super PAC supporting Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. It's the latest in a growing number of Republican groups to come out in support of Biden over President Donald Trump. The group, 43 Alumni for Biden, has recruited at least 200 former White House officials, campaign aides and Cabinet secretaries who worked under Bush to join the push against the Republican incumbent.“Earlier this summer, having seen far too many days filled with chaos emanating from the highest levels of government, we knew it was time to take a stand,” writes the group in its “about us” section on its website. “Former colleagues and friends from both sides of the aisle joined together and began to put our experience to work.”They’re planning to roll out supportive testimonial videos featuring high-profile Republicans and launch a voter turnout effort in key states, aimed at turning out disaffected Republican voters. The group of ex-officials say they’re bound by their shared work experience and belief in a brighter tomorrow.“Political differences may remain among us, but we look forward to a time when civil, honest and robust policy discussions are the order of the day,” wrote the group. 1303
