SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Wells Fargo Bank officials are offering a ,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for robbing three San Diego-area banks.The string of robberies started September 11 at the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 5522 Balboa Avenue in Clairemont, followed by a second theft October 6 at the branch located at 276 N. El Camino Real in Encinitas.In a release, FBI and the San Diego Violent Crimes Task Force officials said they believe that the same individual, described as a white male in his 50s-60s, is responsible for both robberies."In each robbery, the robber approached the teller and presented a note demanding money from the bank in a similar manner," said FBI special agent Davene Butler.Images from those robberies show the suspect wearing a hat and sunglasses. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - When Major League Baseball starts its season in empty stadiums, a local company will be the supplying crowd noise - from a video game.At the Padres exhibition game at Petco Park Monday, amid the empty stands, there was the distinct sound of a crowd."Our goal is to help create the most authentic experience we can during these times," said Ramone Russell, Communications and Brand Strategist at San Diego Studio, a branch of Sony Interactive Entertainment.The Sorrento Valley-based San Diego Studio, the creators of MLB's official video game, MLB The Show 20, were tasked with filling up the silence of the ballparks by calling on a large collection of real sounds."We've been going to games for the last 10 years, so we have a giant catalog of audio," said Russell.The catalog contains reactions to just about any kind of play, from a routine play to a home run blast. Each reaction has been digitally remastered for the stadium setting. League officials hoping those sounds will make players feel more comfortable."Baseball players are not used to competing in empty stadiums ... just hoping to providing a normalcy for them," said Russell.Stadium sound engineers for each home team will have access to 75 different effects and reactions."Every single major league baseball team will be able to watch the game in real time and slide those events and reactions up and down, so it sounds authentic," said Russell.Baseball is hoping the crowd noise, along with walk-up music, stadium announcers and in-stadium video, will replicate the in-game experience as much as possible.Many of the teams, including the Padres, will also have cardboard cutouts of fans in some parts of the stadium. 1712

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- A new technology just reached San Diego and Border Patrol agents say it’s going to help them do their jobs faster, easier and more efficiently. They’re called Mobile Video Surveillance Systems. Each unit is grounded to a Ford F150, the controls to operate the cameras mounted on a mast in the bed of the truck are inside. San Diego is the second place in the nation to have truck like these. Border Patrol says they’ll be rolling out in just a couple days. The first place to have Mobile Video Surveillance System trucks is Rio Grande Valley, Texas. Michael Scappechio is a supervisory with Border Patrol and he tells 10 News, “the looming threat of the migrant caravan in Tijuana and more people potentially on the way we need to make sure we’re prepared for that”. The two cameras allow the agents to see two pictures at all times, a daytime camera and an infrared camera. While Scappechio says the need for this kind of technology is needed in San Diego, it’s their increased rate of arrests that landed the trucks here, “nearly a 90 percent increase is significant, that’s going to get attention, that’s going to get resources, that’s going to get man power, infrastructure and technology”.Border Patrol tells 10 News these trucks won’t replace the border wall but instead, will go hand in hand with it. 1334

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two people were found dead Sunday morning after authorities responded to multiple 911 calls of a capsized boat off the coast of Ocean Beach.Authorities received a call about the incident around 3:30 a.m. When they arrived, authorities found a 28-foot vessel overturned along the shore with two mean deceased nearby."About a 28 foot vessel overturned in the shore, on the sand," says SD Fire & Rescue Lt. Maureen Hodges. "We do have two victims that were down on the sand."The incident happened shortly after 3:30 Sunday morning. Customs and Border Protection officers told ABC 10News the boat capsized off the shore, throwing the two people into the water. There's still no word on if any other people were in the boat.Border Patrol also responded to the incident along with San Diego Police, lifeguards, and San Diego Fire-Rescue. CBP believes this is the latest incident to involve a human-smuggling effort gone horribly wrong.So far in the 2020 Fiscal Year, there have been 210 incidents involving these kind of "panga" boats off the coast of San Diego. The record was set in 2013, when CBP responded to 243 such incidents. With two months left in the fiscal year, 2020 is on pace to break the record.ABC 10News asked if the rise in panga boat incidents could be related to border closures because of the coronavirus, forcing would-be smugglers to turn to the water.
