"For other entities that have chosen to act irresponsibly, entities in particular like the Awaken Church where we have been forced to have to share outbreak information because of their lack of cooperation and notifying members of their congregation about cases there, we continue to implore the public to recognize the very real danger of indoor religious services."Following the initial announcements of an outbreak, the church continued to hold indoor services. The church has received multiple cease-and-desist orders from the county.The church's website says it has moved Wednesday services in San Diego online through December. Sunday services on the church's website did not appear to be changed. The church also has locations in El Cajon and Carlsbad.Officials advised members of the church to wear face coverings and practice social distancing, and to avoid large gatherings.Generally, the county does not reveal the locations of community outbreaks, which are three or more COVID-19 cases from different households within two weeks at one location. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police have released bodycam footage of an officer-involved shooting that ended with one man dead in City Heights on Thursday.The video shows SDPD officers responding to the 4200 block of Menlo Ave. at about 4 p.m. SDPD said officers were called after reports of a man with a handgun confronting two women."The man manipulated the slide of the gun as if he were loading it and pointed the gun towards the women," according to an SDPD news release. The women drove away and then called 911.The video, which includes bodycam video from two officers and witness video, shows officers arrive to the scene and begin to yell to the man to drop the gun and step away. Matt Dobbs said Thursday.Police say the man picked the gun back up and pointed it at officers. That's when several officers shot at the man, according to Dobbs. The man was hit at least once. SDPD said the man was still moving and in control of the gun, and pointed it in officers' direction, prompting police to fire again.Police continued to yell to the man to get away from the gun, before SDPD says officers used a combination of non-lethal options, including a bean bag round and canine, to take him into custody.SDPD says the man was given medical aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released, but police say he appears to be a Hispanic or light-skinned African-American man in this 30s or 40s.A weapon was recovered at the scene, according to police, but it isn't known if the weapon was real or operational. SDPD said a witness provided cell phone video showing the man picking the gun back up and pointing it at officers.SDPD says seven officers fired shots. They are not being identified. As with all officer-involved shootings, the officers will be placed on administrative duty. No officers were reportedly injured.After the department's Homicide Unit completes its investigation, the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office will look at the incident to determine if the officers bear any criminal liability for their actions.The Internal Affairs Unit will also conduct an investigation, and the Shooting Review Board will evaluate the tactics used by the officers.The Community Review Board on Police Practices will conduct a review of the incident and provide any appropriate recommendations. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer said Thursday that the city is expected to see a major decline in tax revenue due to the coronavirus. Faulconer said the city usually takes in an estimated 0 million in sales tax throughout the fiscal year. This year, however, the city is expected to lose million in sales tax alone. Similarly, Faulconer added that the city could lose as much as million in tourism tax. The news comes the day after the famous Hotel del Coronado announced its closure amid the COVID-19 pandemic. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are investigating after a couple was found dead in a Torrey Highlands home Saturday night. According to police, the couple was expected in San Francisco earlier in the day, but they never showed up. When police arrived at the home on the 7400 block of Via Rivera in Torrey Highlands just before 10 p.m., they saw the body of a person through a window of the home. After entering the house, officers found an Asian man and woman in their 50s dead with trauma to their upper bodies. 10News spoke to neighbors who were stunned to see all the police activity in their quiet neighborhood."Everybody seems to mind their own business, I haven't heard of any problems whatsoever," neighbor Salam Hasenin said. "I hope we go back to our peaceful environment and I just feel really sad and bad for the people."Nick Palermino shares a back wall with the victims' home. He did not recall any commotion happening Saturday night. "We have a dog that has a doggie door, and she wasn't barking last night at all," Palermino said. "I hope it is isolated to this one incident. I hope it is not burglary that went bad."According to police, the victims’ home does not appear to be disturbed. Detectives are investigating the deaths. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are searching for two men believed to be involved in a robbery at San Diego State University Monday night. The robbery happened at 6:42 p.m. near the intersection of Lindeo Paseo and College Avenue. At this point it is unclear if the victim was a student or a community member. The victim told police they were pushed by one of the suspects while walking on the sidewalk.
