SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Nearly one week after Election Day and with state Assemblyman Todd Gloria holding a comfortable lead, City Council President Pro Tem Barbara Bry conceded in the race for San Diego mayor.As of Nov. 9 vote totals, Gloria was leading Bry 56% to 46%.During a virtual press conference on Monday, Bry said she called Gloria the day before and offered her congratulations. Regarding the campaign, Bry said she felt voters were misled by the media and political ads from the opposition.Bry said, "I want to congratulate Todd Gloria as the next mayor of San Diego. He and I spoke by phone yesterday, and I offered him my congratulations. But for the next few years, our city faces many challenges because of COVID-19, and Mr. Gloria will have a tough job. Thousands of San Diegans are unemployed through no fault of their own and city revenues are declining."She added, "I wish those issues could have been more central to the mayoral campaign. We certainly tried to make them the focus of our communications. Unfortunately, interest groups supporting my opponent took a different approach.Perhaps inspired by the ‘fake news’ rhetoric coming out of Washington, they spent over million on TV commercials and mailers cynically designed to fool voters into thinking they were sponsored by our campaign. In times past, dishonest advertising of that sort would have been called out by responsible journalists, and voters would have been made aware of these cynical tactics. But the media -- like many citizens -- has become so desensitized to such tactics that they no longer pique their interest. And, unfortunately, these dishonest attacks clearly impacted our campaign."When asked if she would run for mayor again, Bry said she may not seek public office again. She added she plans to take time off with her family before her next endeavor.Bry, 71, will remain on the San Diego City Council until Dec. 10. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - New technology could provide law enforcement and fire departments with round the clock security, infrared and night vision, according to Ron Lee, President of Tactical Drone Solutions.He explained the Hoverfly is as easy to operate as an elevator, with a launchpad that includes a handful of buttons and a joystick. The tethered drone doesn't require an FAA certificate, unlike untethered drones, Lee said.The tether is virtually invisible, three millimeters wide, but don't let that fool you. It is reinforced with Kevlar, a material most commonly associated with bullet-proof vests. The tiny chord serves two purposes, to provide power and send back information. "There's no wireless transmission, no way anyone can intercept it and there's no one who can take control of the drone," Lee said that makes it very appealing to agencies like police and Customs and Border Protection. The Hoverfly already made an appearance at the Holiday Bowl Parade, helping Harbor and San Diego Police oversee the crowd."It has a topography of five million square feet that you can see on the screen," Lee said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Parents rallied at Poway Unified District Headquarters during their monthly board meeting, asking them to pause on proposed plans to bring a Costco to land zoned to build a school.The vacant lot is at the corner of Camino Del Sur and Carmel Valley Road and was labeled a surplus by the Poway Unified School District.That means they don't need it and believe they have enough schools in the area.Parent Gianni Nguyen said that's not true, "in our particular area the schools are impacted, so no."Nguyen said she doesn't mind the idea of creating mixed use retail, restaurants and a Costco, but she was angered by the process the board went through to get the deal."I felt like we were just robbed... We just want to be part of that process, bring us to the table, give us a voice, let us share with you what our opinions are," she said.The board voted unanimously at their September meeting to pursue a long term lease with Costco, that spans decades. Nguyen said the community was blindsided."I have four kids in the public school district, four young kids, my oldest is only 12, so I am very passionate about this," she said looking away.She hopes the rally makes the board pause and reconsider moving forward on this deal.Nguyen added, "we're going to unite and say we do have a voice and there should be a choice and you guys should be in there to represent us and if you're not representing us, who are you representing?"The deal was not on the agenda Thursday. 1493

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Pounds of marijuana, concentrates and edibles, cash, and handguns were seized from a Pacific Beach pot dispensary Thursday.San Diego Police raided Truly Green, located at 4150 Mission Blvd., at about 8 a.m. for illegally operating the business.The seizure included 57 pounds of high-grade marijuana, more than 1400 marijuana concentrates and edibles, ,100 in cash, and two handguns.Two employees were arrested for possession of marijuana for sale and operating a business without a permit. They were released with a citation.Police said the owners were not present, but police said they will be charged. 637

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person was killed and several people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash late Wednesday in the Bay Park area.CHP received a report of the multi-car crash just before 10 p.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near the SeaWorld Dr. off-ramp. Some passengers involved in the crash pulled themselves from the wreckage before CHP officers arrived.San Diego Fire-Rescue said eight people total were taken to a nearby hospital. At least one person died.It wasn't clear what led to the crash. CHP officers closed the off-ramp for several hours overnight to investigate. 587
