SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Francis Parker School officials say a vendor that handles some of the school's backup data was victim of a ransomware attack in May. The school says third-party cloud computing provider, Blackbaud, Inc., notified them on July 16 of the cyberattack. Criminals demanded payment in return for destroying information they copied from Blackbaud's database, the school said.School officials warned parents that the compromised database may have included contact information, birth dates, and a history of relationships with the school, including donation dates and amounts. The school said the attackers did not access credit card information, social security, or other personal financial information and had no access to the school's systems.Blackbaud paid the ransomware and says based on the nature of the incident and investigations with law enforcement, there's no reason to believe any data went beyond the cybercriminals or was, or will be, misused.Francis Parker officials said they are reevaluating their relationship with Blackbaud. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Dozens of families and children with down syndrome were out at Crown Point Park in Pacific Beach for the first-ever Donut Run in San Diego. The money raised benefits Gigi's Playhouse which is a down syndrome achievement center. The center provides therapeutic and training programs for people of all ages. The services are completely free. Gigi's Playhouse has 37 locations across the country and even a few in Mexico. All of the staff are volunteers so donations are always welcome in order to continue providing the services. The goal was to raise ,000 but the organization doubled that goal.   667

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Family members in the South Bay mourning the death of a beloved grandfather and foster parent from coronavirus.Enrique Gonzalez, 68, was doing everything right. He was staying at home. His family was shopping for him. A month ago, he got sick."Runny nose, body aches, fever," said his nephew, Fernando Gonzalez.Fernando says within a week, Gonzalez tested positive for COVID-19."As soon as he had trouble breathing and talking, we took him to the hospital," said Fernando.Doctors put him on a ventilator and into a medically induced coma. Weeks later, after suffering cardiac arrest, his condition deteriorated. A nurse helped his large family talk to him through Facetime calls."Told him jokes, playing music for him ... praying for him. Really tough not to be in the room," said Fernando.A week ago, Gonzalez passed away."Just devastating to everybody," said Fernando.Fernando says the family now grieving the loss of a hard-working man with the biggest of hearts. After Gonzalez retired from decades working in construction, he and his wife decided to become foster parents, fostering over 20 children in the past 4 years."Even when he passed away, still fostering an infant ... SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Despite a recent surge in attendance and stock prices, SeaWorld Entertainment Tuesday announced 125 job cuts company-wide.Interim CEO John Reilly said in the company’s earnings report Monday that the company identified million of “additional cost reductions.”A spokesperson for the company said the restructuring affects all the company’s theme parks as well as corporate offices, located in Orlando.RELATED: SeaWorld To Eliminate 350 Jobs, Including 80 In San DiegoOther than SeaWorld parks, the company also owns Sesame Place and Bush Gardens parks.
