Officials explained that a state murder charge was "the more definite" law – at the time, there wasn't a specific federal law for blowing up a commercial airliner – the Rocky Mountain News reported, and Keating moved for a quick trial.The case went to court in April 1956, five months after the explosion, and the trial was the first in U.S. history to be televised.
