SAN DIEGO -- A 9-year-old San Diego girl is using her cookie business to help support other businesses. The 9-year-old, named Daniele, wrote a letter to Kenny Chen, the owner of Onyx Moto in Kearny Mesa, proposing a way to increase business.Daniele is proposing that Chen use Girl Scout Cookies to sell more motorcycles.RELATED: Girl Scout sells more than 300 boxes of cookies at San Diego marijuana dispensary“You can give customers a box (of girl scout cookies) while they sign all those papers. They may even buy the second warranty,” the three-page letter reads.“You have customers and they get hungry. Many have probably said they need to ‘go to lunch’ to talk over their decision to buy a motorcycle. Don’t let them leave! Give them a box of delicious Girl Scout Cookies instead.”Chen said in a post on Instagram that he loves seeing such creativity and that he’ll be placing an order for some of the treats. What a smart cookie! 951

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)-- With the increase in park usage since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, San Diego Park Rangers are noticing a slight increase in vandalism at city parks and trails. On a scale of one to ten, hiking up Cowles Mountain was a bit of a challenge."For me, an eight," six-year-old Joaquin Santaruse said. He, his brother, and two buddies zig-zagged up San Diego's highest peak Wednesday to get away."It's fun to be in nature sometimes," older brother Mateo Santaruse said. "It's a great view up there, and there's a bunch of cool rocks, and in fact, we found a pink one."Many people have noticed and posted about an uptick in graffiti at parks and trails across the nation. Zion National Park published a post on their Facebook page, showcasing the recent vandalism incidents. In it, they are pleaded with people not to disrupt nature during their visit."We just saw that it was painted all pink, and we were like, 'Wow, look at that rock!'" Mateo said. But that awe turned into a little disappointment for the young boys."The chemicals in the spray paint," friend Aaron Heredia said."The animals can try to lick on it and stuff, and then it's toxic," Mateo followed.Tim Graham with the city of San Diego, says graffiti has both environmental and financial impacts. He sent ABC 10News a statement reading,"Because of the location and size of some of the rocks, park rangers are unable to remove the rocks or the paint safely. The City is looking into contracting with a qualified vendor that can safely remove and capture the paint from the rocks."This, unfortunately, becomes an unnecessary expense for taxpayers. So instead of leaving a mark, Graham is asking San Diegans only to leave footprints. If you spot graffiti, email the city at askparks@sandiego.gov or file a report at the city's Parks and Recreation website. 1841

SAN DIEGO, California — Dozens of voters were left off the roster at a San Diego County polling place on Election Day, leading to frustration and delays. The problem was reported Tuesday morning at Pacific Trails Middle School at 5975 Village Center Loop Road in Carmel Valley.Poll workers received an incomplete roster which omitted 46 names, Registrar of Voters Michael Vu confirmed. The list was missing two and a half pages.Voters waited for voting officials to reprint another roster and deliver it to the polling place.Officials tried to ease the long line by calling the Registrar of Voters and getting approval for each person over the phone, a voter told KGTV television station.Voters also had the option of voting provisionally, but many of them declined, telling KGTV they wanted their votes to count. Provisional voting requires extra processing time to verify residences and identities. The San Diego Superior Court announced Monday it would have a judicial officer on hand to deal with any possible election-related issues, including registration, denial of registration of voters, certification or denial of certification of candidates or the certification or denial of certification of ballot measures.Voters were encouraged to contact the Registrar of Voters at 858-565-5800 with any concerns. 1337

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A judge ordered California's attorney general to release police misconduct records predating Jan. 1, when new transparency legislation took effect.San Francisco Superior Court Judge Richard B. Ulmer, Jr. on Friday also rejected arguments by Attorney General Xavier Becerra that his office should not have to release records of local law enforcement. The legislation was designed to guarantee public access to disciplinary records involving investigations into officer shootings, use-of-force incidents and incidents involving officer misconduct. The tentative ruling was a win for the First Amendment Coalition and National Public Radio member KQED-FM, which sued Becerra's office for records under the legislation."Judge Ulmer's order sends the clear message that the Attorney General is not above California law," said David Snyder, the coalition's executive director. In response, Becerra's office said Friday it would release records from before 2019 but only those regarding Department of Justice officers. The office said in a statement that requiring the office to release records involving other departments "would result in duplication of efforts."The judge ordered the attorney general's office to meet with the coalition and KQED to work out the logistics of releasing records.Ulmer said the 1st District Court of Appeal had already decided that the law is retroactive. He also dismissed the argument that making the attorney general provide records of local law enforcement would be burdensome.Ulmer said lawmakers could not have been oblivious to the potential cost of carrying out the legislation, and "the people will likely be agnostic as to which tax-funded agency foots the bill." 1724

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- Those too busy to vote on Election day can take advantage of early weekend voting. Hundreds went to the San Diego County Registrar’s Office Saturday, to turn in their ballots three days before election day. The Secretary of State announced that voter registration reached an all-time high in California, with more than 78% of the citizens eligible to vote.  393
