SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Gas and Electric says more than 21,000 residents could lose power amid a coming Santa Ana wind event.The company said Saturday it notified thousands of residents about the possibility of power outages to reduce wildfire risk both Monday and Tuesday.The outages could take place in south Orange County and north San Diego County. This event, however, is forecast to come from the north, affecting urban and coastal areas that don’t normally see public safety power outages.“Within SDG&E’s service territory, the strongest winds are expected overnight Sunday through Monday in the San Clemente and east San Juan Capistrano areas in south Orange County and the Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, Pala Reservation and Fallbrook areas in north San Diego County,” SDG&E said.Drive-thru community resource centers will be available starting at 8 a.m. Monday at the Fallbrook Branch Library, 124 S. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County issued cease and desist orders to several businesses Monday after the county entered the state’s restrictive purple tier.According to the county, the orders were issued to several local restaurants, gyms, and yoga studios.The news came after Governor Gavin Newsom hit the brakes on economic activity, moving 28 more counties into the state’s most restrictive tier.The purple tier restricts capacity at retail businesses, closes gyms, and limits restaurants to outdoor-only service.Monday, Newsom forced 41 of California’s 58 counties to the purple tier. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego businessman Doug Manchester has suggestions about how to help the people of the Bahamas recover from Hurricane Dorian. “It's devastation. It's beyond all anything that anybody can imagine. The aerial pictures don't do it justice on how much devastation there really is,” Manchester told 10News Thursday. Manchester loaded his plane with supplies and went to work on the island nation with relief organizers. “When this happened, I wanted to go down there as a private citizen to see all I could do to help,” Manchester said. Rebuilding is going to be a long and expensive process but Manchester believes it will happen. “It's going to cost billions, so every little bit helps,” said Manchester. Manchester, who has a long history in the Bahamas, was nominated to be the ambassador by President Trump. The nomination has been on hold for more than a year. “It's political, but hopefully that will see itself through in the next couple months because I can do a lot more as an ambassador than I can as a private citizen." Manchester hopes San Diegans will be generous in their donations to the Bahamas whether it’s through his charitable foundation or another aid group. 1205

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County's unemployment rate dropped for the sixth consecutive month, but that momentum appears to be at risk.The state reported Friday that the jobless rate in the region was 7.7% in October, down from 8.9% in September. Over the last year, about 106,000 San Diegans have lost their payroll jobs. San Diego's recovering job market is facing new headwinds from the latest round of coronavirus restrictions. The purple tier bans indoor dining and limits retail capacity to 25%. And on Saturday, the governor's curfew of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. goes into effect.
