[Breaking news update, published at 11:15 a.m. ET]Three more deaths related to Hurricane Michael have been reported in Florida's Bay County, an official said Wednesday, raising the storm's overall death toll to at least 32.[Original story, published at 4:47 a.m. ET]A week after Hurricane Michael slammed the Florida Panhandle, the scope of the storm's fury is still emerging as the death toll rises and rescuers search for the missing in the hardest-hit areas.Michael has killed at least 29 people across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. Of those,12 are in Florida's Bay County, where the hurricane made landfall last week as a Category 4 storm.Authorities fear some people who did not evacuate could be buried beneath piles of concrete, wood and mangled metal in Florida. The Florida Department of Health provided an online form to report those who are still unaccounted for, trapped or in need of help. While the exact number of the missing was not immediately available, more details are expected to emerge as electricity and phone services are gradually restored across the Panhandle. 1110

(KGTV) - Not many people have a Coronado bridge story like Bertha Loaiza.Loaiza was 3-years-old in August of 1985 when her mother jumped from the 246-foot tall bridge holding her.The mother and daughter were unconscious when fisherman pulled them out of the harbor. 24-year-old Angelica Medina never took another breath, but responders were able to resuscitate Bertha.“Honestly it’s hard for even me to believe,” said Loaiza, who suffered a broken hip and cataracts in her right eye from the incident, “My memories blocked out — but I’m good now.’Growing up, her family told her that her mother died in a car accident, but she figured out the real story as a teenager after watching an old news clip.“It makes me sad she didn’t have the resources that are available to everybody today,” said Loaiza. Now 36, Loaiza says she was angry at her mom when she first found out. Now, she wants to do something positive in her mom’s legacy.“The ledge is not high enough,” said Loaiza, “We need to put more barriers.”Loaiza is a member of the Coronado Bridge Collaborative and is among those stumping for suicide barriers along the Coronado bridge.Caltrans debuted several designs for the barriers earlier this year, but funding and approval from agencies involved remain the biggest hindrances. Loaiza knows it’s difficult to stop someone from harming themselves, but she believes making it harder for those that want to will have an impact.“I just want to know that I’ll have saved one life,” said Loiza, “And it will all be worth it."If you or a loved are contemplating suicide, call the suicide helpline number at (888-724-7240).  1656

A 60-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday morning in Tampa's Seminole Heights area, the fourth such death in what police say is a string of unsolved killings in that neighborhood within the past month."It is all in the probably 10-block, 15-block area," Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn told CNN sister network HLN on Tuesday. "And so we're just going to do our good police work and hopefully get a break."Ronald Felton was shot in the back while crossing the street just before 5 a.m. Tuesday, police said. He became the fourth victim in a string of killings that has vexed investigators who remain desperate for clues.A witness to the shooting provided a description of the suspect, Tampa police chief Brian Dugan said. "When I spoke to her, she said if our officer had been five seconds earlier, he would have been able to stop it," he said.Dugan described the suspect as a black male between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches with a thin build and a light complexion. He was wearing all black and a black baseball cap and armed with a large black pistol, police said. Police said they believe the suspect also lives in the same neighborhood as the shootings.Last month, police said that three seemingly random killings within 11 days in Seminole Heights were all linked. Benjamin Mitchell, 22, was shot and killed in front of his home October 9. Monica Hoffa, 32, was killed October 11. A city employee found her body two days afterward in a vacant parking lot half a mile from where Mitchell died.Anthony Naiboa, an autistic 20-year-old who had just graduated from high school, became the third victim when he accidentally got on the wrong bus and ended up in the neighborhood by mistake, police said. These three victims were all alone at the time of their deaths and were found within about a half-mile of each other.  1826

Where is the benefit of having it in your household?" he said, according to the BBC. "It's created to addict, an addiction to keep you in front of a computer for as long as possible. It's so irresponsible."RELATED: Fortnite: What it is and why it is so popularPrince Harry went on to say social media is, "more addictive than alcohol and drugs." (KGTV) -- Mars will make a rare close-Earth approach this month. According to NASA, on Tuesday, October 6, Mars will be close enough to simply go outside and see with the naked eye.NASA says this lineup happens only about once every two years. The next close approach won’t happen again until December of 2022.Events like the one Tuesday are even rarer. "The Red Planet comes close enough for exceptional viewing only once or twice every 15 or 17 years," NASA said. RELATED: Full ‘Blue Moon’ to haunt skies on HalloweenIn space terms, however, “close” doesn’t exactly mean you can head over and borrow a cup of sugar from our planetary neighbor. According to NASA, the Red Planet will still be about 38.6 million miles away. The agency’s Mars 2020 mission with the Perseverance rover is expected to land on Mars in 2021.NASA says, due to the timing of close approaches, missions to Mars typically launch every two years. You can learn more about the Red Planet and this year’s close approach by clicking here. 1015
