BEIJING, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- At the invitation of Queen Elizabeth II, President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Britain from Oct. 19 to Oct.23, the first such visit by a Chinese president in a decade.
The Belt and Road initiative was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013 as a trade and infrastructure network. It will connect Asia to Europe and Africa through the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and is aimed at improving infrastructure, financial cooperation and cultural exchanges.
He also expressed hoped for closer links between both countries' enterprises and people.
Liu made the remarks earlier in the day before the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on the issue by a near-unanimous vote.
He called on schools and parents to encourage young people's aspiration about science.
