SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego International Airport broke its passenger traffic record for the fifth consecutive year, serving roughly 24 million passengers in 2018, the Airport Authority announced Friday.The total -- up nearly 10 percent over last year -- included one million international passengers, a 19 percent jump from 2017, according to the Airport Authority, which credited several airlines' expanded service and airport-wide traffic increases for the new record.``This is a tremendous time of growth for not only SAN but the entire San Diego region,'' said Kim Becker, the airport's president and CEO. ``With more people choosing San Diego as their destination of choice, we are looking ahead at projects to accommodate this trend and provide the world-class airport experience our customers and community deserve.''Airlines servicing the airport added 16 new routes throughout the year and 15 of the airport's 17 airlines saw overall traffic increases.According to the Airport Authority, Southwest Airlines added 794,401 passengers from 2017 to 2018, the most of any airline flying out of San Diego. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - On Tuesday park rangers recovered the body of a San Diego man who fell from a cliff at Sequoia National Park last weekend.Anton Dokov, 29, slipped on a hiking trail in the Watchtower area above Tokopah Valley and slid over a sheer precipice on Sunday, according to Sintia Kawasaki-Yee, spokeswoman for the Central California nature preserve."Rangers responded that same day, but dangerous ice and snow conditions with a very steep slope meant they had to turn around,'' Kawasaki- Yee said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian near a Logan Heights intersection.The crash happened around 8:50 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 25th Street and Imperial Avenue, east of Interstate 5 and south of state Route 94, San Diego Police Officer John Buttle said.A man, whose age was not immediately available, was walking westbound in the left-turn lane of Imperial Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle heading eastbound on Imperial, Buttle said.ABC 10News learned the victim was dragged several yards; the driver of the suspect vehicle, described as a silver or gray two-door sedan, fled the scene without stopping.No description of the driver was immediately available.The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the officer said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The city of San Diego will begin enforcing parking regulations again starting Oct. 1 with a two-week grace period before full enforcement Oct. 15.The city temporarily suspended parking enforcement on March 16 following the COVID-19 stay-at-home order. Multiple attempts in the following months to reinforce parking regulations have been thwarted by ongoing shutdown orders.In developing a plan to restart parking enforcement, city staff consulted with several business groups representing communities across San Diego.Starting Thursday, the city will issue written warnings for vehicles parked in violation of:-- Posted street sweeping routes-- Metered parking restrictions-- Curb time limits-- Commercial zonesCitations will continue to be issued for vehicles parked illegally at red, white and blue painted curbs. Drivers are encouraged to follow posted signage when looking for a parking space.Although street sweeping has continued during the public health emergency, the resumption of enforcement will allow city sweepers to sweep debris and dust pollution along the curb line to maintain improved water quality and reduce the potential for flooding as the rainy season approaches.During the two-week grace period, courtesy notices will be distributed to inform residents of the enforcement restart. 1330
