OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (WTMJ) -- A Wisconsin woman has been charged with second degree recklessly endangering safety after she allegedly had her 9-year-old son ride on top of her minivan to hold down a plastic pool.According to the criminal complaint, it happened around 3 p.m. local time on Sept. 9, when officers responded to reports of a child riding on top of a minivan.A 911 caller followed Amber Schmunk, 28, of Fredonia, until she pulled over and took her child and the pool off the vehicle's roof. Schmunk then continued driving down the road and stopped at her sister’s house where police caught up with her.Schmunk told police picked up the pool at a residence but did not have enough room inside the minivan. She said she “decided to put the pool on top of the minivan, but had no way to strap it down, so she had her child climb on the roof and hold it down while she drove.”Schmunk admitted to police she had her oldest son ride on top of the minivan, “but only for a short time, maybe 20-30 seconds.” Schmunk later stated it was safe because she used a strap to tie the child down on top of the pool.She also told the officer that she believed it was “ok” as her father let her do things like that when she was that age.Schmunk will be back in court on Nov. 14. If convicted, she faces up to ten years in prison and up to a ,000 fine. 1417

Papa John won't leave Papa John's alone.The company has tried hard to distance itself from founder John Schnatter, who blamed the NFL for poor pizza sales last fall and then admitted using the N-word on a conference call this spring.Sales slumped, and Papa John's stock declined. CEO Steve Ritchie and the current leadership blame Schnatter, who stepped down as chairman in July.Schnatter told CNNMoney in an interview Tuesday that he's being scapegoated."You can't blame everything on two comments," he said. "I wish I had that kind of power, but I don't."Instead, Schnatter pinned the company's problems on Ritchie, who became CEO in January. Schnatter described him as a poor leader who has created a culture of intimidation at Papa John's, and let quality and customer service slip."We need new leadership," he said. "He struggles as a CEO.""Steve'll make a great executive somewhere else," he added. "He's just the wrong guy for the job."He described upper management under Ritchie as vindictive and controlling."People right now are scared to talk," he said.Schnatter, who is still the largest shareholder and owns almost a third of the company, insists he doesn't want to return as CEO. "[The comment has] been misquoted, it's out of context, it's been portrayed in a way that's not truthful. But I'm still going to feel bad about that.""I love my employees. "For anything that hurts them, then I'm going to feel bad about that, and I do."Schnatter also thinks his remarks about the NFL leadership have been misconstrued.Last year, some NFL players knelt during the National Anthem to protest treatment of black Americans, particularly by police. The protests sparked a controversy, and the NFL ultimately ruled that players can't kneel during the anthem."I felt like the situation was not a winning situation for the fans, the sponsors, the players and the owners," he continued.A few months after Schnatter called out NFL leadership, Papa John's ended its NFL sponsorship. Pizza Hut took its place.Papa John's is trying to put both comments, and Schnatter himself, behind it.The company is stripping Schnatter's image from its marketing materials and has taken the unusual step of approving a provision that would prevent him from gaining more control of the company.Ritchie went on a listening tour, mandated bias training for all employees and promised to increase diversity among staff. PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A Pasco, Fla. woman was arrested after deputies say she was passed out drunk at the wheel of a parked car with a 5-year-old child in the back seat.20-year-old Sarah Nisse was found after the girl answered a phone call from her father.He called the 5-year-old via FaceTime and was able to see where the vehicle was parked.He found the car at 2509 Success Dr. and immediately removed his daughter from the vehicle and called 911.Fire rescue arrived and tried to administer aid to Nisse. She didn't say anything but raised a middle finger at them. When deputies arrived, Nisse appeared to be 'heavily intoxicated' and was taken to the Medical Center of Trinity.She blew a .276 and .272 three hours after the incident.Deputies say that without proper supervision, the 5-year-old was at risk of possible injury or death due to a large pond being next to where the car was parked, as well as due to the fact that Nisse was driving while under the influence.She was arrested for child neglect, violation of probation and DUI. She was on probation for willful child neglect in reference to a case in 2015 where she had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old juvenile. 1187
