Two students were taken into custody after they set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for ammunition to "shoot up" Combs High School in San Tan Valley, Arizona, according to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. Last week, deputies responded to the school for a report of a threat.According to PCSO, a student reported to school officials that they had overheard two students talking about bringing a gun to school. Deputies say a 15-year-old student had threatened to file off the serial number of a gun and bring it to campus. A second student reportedly helped the 15-year-old set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for ammunition. "The site explained that ammunition was expensive and they needed help to shoot up Combs High School," PCSO said in a statement. The first student did not have any weapons, but the second student did have access to weapons at his home, deputies said.The second student reportedly told deputies that he did not know who created the GoFundMe account but was there when it was created. The GoFundMe account has since been removed, deputies said. Both students were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit terrorism and interference or disruption of an education institution.  1264

(KGTV) - All Tribes Charter School in Valley Center has found a solution to the problem of kids paying too much attention to their cell phones in class.They've started using Yondr pouches to lock up phones at the beginning of the school day."These things are more distracting than hormones for teenage kids," says All Tribes Charter School Administrator Michelle Parada. Fifteen percent say they've experienced cyber-bullying.Parada says that addiction has led to poor attention in class, declining grades and cyber-bullying.All that changed when the school deployed 120 Yondr pouches last spring.Every day, the kids turn off and lock their phones in a pouch when they arrive at school. They keep the locked pouch with them all day long. The pouches get unlocked by administrators at the end of the day.Predictably, the kids don't like it."I like having my phone, having easy access," says Senior Melani Maxcy. "And with this thing, I can't do it.""This school didn't need it really," says Willow Robinson. "Yeah, we'd post every once in a while in class, but that's when we were just sitting around and talking."Parada says it was also tricky getting parents to adjust, many of whom like to keep in touch with their students throughout the day."They're probably the biggest perpetrators of calling their kids during the day. Two journalists from WYFF-TV based out of Greenville, South Carolina were killed Monday afternoon when a tree fell on their SUV while covering a storm that was causing flooding in the area, the station confirmed. WYFF anchor Mike McCormick and WYFF photojournalist Aaron Smeltzer were killed by the tree that landed on the SUV. The incident happened in Polk County, North Carolina. Tryon Fire Chief Geoffrey Tennant told WYFF that the SUV's engine was running when authorities reached the scene around 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The tree was reportedly 3 feet in diameter. Heavy rain in the area caused the roots of the tree to fail, Tennant told the station. "It personally affected me a little bit because I had done an interview with Mr. McCormick about 10 minutes before we got the call. And we had talked a little bit about how he wanted us to stay safe and I wanted him to stay safe and of course 10 or 15 minutes later we got the call and it was him and his photographer," Tennant said.
