BEIJING, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government has ordered a crackdown on pirated videos of two Chinese New Year blockbusters "Let the Bullets Fly" and "If You Are the One II."The two Chinese movies are both big hits of the New Year movie season. "Let the Bullets Fly" has raked in over 400 million yuan (59.7 million U.S. dollars) in box office since its debut on Dec. 16, while "If You are the One II" has made 200 million yuan within five days since its release.The crackdown was ordered by the National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications and the General Administration of Press and Publication "in order to protect and boost the development of China's film industry," a statement from the office said Friday.The statement said the crackdown is part of a half-year national campaign against infringement of intellectual property rights (IPR), which is underway.The two departments asked local market watchdogs to enhance market inspections to weed out illegal workshops producing pirated video products.
XI'AN, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- A 100-member team of Chinese soldiers left here Friday for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for an eight-month UN peace-keeping operation there. They formed the first batch of China's 12th peace-keeping team to DRC since 2003. They will be joined by a second batch of 118 soldiers who are scheduled to depart on Nov. 28.The 12th team comprises military engineers and medical staff. SEOUL, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- China and South Korea can borrow judicial experiences from each other, Chinese Chief Justice Wang Shengjun said here Friday.There is significant room for cooperation between the judicial courts of the two countries, especially in such areas as administrative management, information technology applications, and training of judges, said Wang, president of China's Supreme People's Court (SPC).Wang praised the information technology applications at the grassroots judicial courts in South Korea.He said that his visit to South Korea was fruitful and hoped that the two sides would expand exchanges and cooperation further and make contribution to the development of the relationship between the two countries.Wang arrived here Sunday to visit at the invitation of the Supreme Court of South Korea.During the visit, Wang held talks with various South Korean judicial officials and discussed topics of common concern, such as judicial systems and reforms.
ISLAMABAD, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Acting President and Senate Chairman Farooq Hamid Naek and National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza visited the newly-launched Pakistan-China Friendship Center in Islamabad on Thursday.Naek and Mirza, with the company of Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Liu Jian, visited the friendship hall, conference rooms and other facilities in the center.They also toured a photography exhibition highlighting the history of the bilateral ties and an exhibition of masterpieces of the Chinese brush painting.In a message left on a guestbook, Naek viewed the friendship center as a symbol of the close friendly brotherly ties between the two countries. DUSHANBE, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- China and Tajikistan will enhance high-level contacts, expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields to fully develop their relations of good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation, said a joint communique signed on Thursday by the two countries.Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao signed the communique with his Tajik counterpart Akil Akilov in his two-day visit to the Central Asian nation.
