SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Two teenagers were arrested Saturday in a sex trafficking investigation involving a 12-year-old girl. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, detectives found the girl on the 8500 block of Paradise Valley Road Saturday. The department says the 12-year-old was a runaway “who was possibly being sex trafficked.”The two 17-year-old boys were arrested for possession of firearms. “The Human Trafficking investigation is still developing and being handled by Human Trafficking Task Force,” the department added.Marisa Ugarte is the founder of 'Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition' [BSCC]. For two decades, she has helped victims of human trafficking get back their lives. What startled her about this case was the age of the victim. "The average age that I have seen is 16 and 17. Some 15. Very few 14. But a 12-year-old? You can count them in your hand," Ugarte said. FBI studies show San Diego is one of the highest child sex trafficking areas in the nation. The reason: Tourism. "You have Comic-Con. We have a cyber patrol that we do. In three hours, we had 45 calls of buyers." Ugarte said. These patrollers look for potential buyers on the internet and intercept them before they prey on children. Another reason San Diego's human trafficking statistics are also high is the international aspect. The area's proximity to the border brings in large numbers of sex and labor trafficking. Human trafficking is a billion-dollar underworld operation, with victims so young and trapped, often out of desperation. Ugarte sent a message to the young victim. "Please don't disappear and become one girl on the milk carton. You do not know what is out there. Please. Just think about it. Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she is calling the House back into session this week to vote on a bill prohibiting the U.S. Postal Service from implementing any changes to operations or level of service. Someone out there is sitting on a lottery ticket worth more than .5 billion, but has not stepped forward to claim the prize, according to ABC News. On Oct. 23, a single winning ticket was purchased in South Carolina for the largest Mega Millions jackpot in history. The ticket is also the single most valuable lottery ticket in US history. "We have not heard that the winner in South Carolina has come forward," Mega Millions administrator Seth Elkin told ABC News. The winner has 180 days to claim the prize. That means the winning ticket does not have to be claimed until April. If no winner comes forward, each participating state in the Mega Millions game will get back all the money that state contributed to the unclaimed jackpot, the lottery says on its website. The amount of money that goes unclaimed in state lottery programs is quite staggering. Starbucks has reached gender and race pay equity among all US employees in similar roles, the company said on Wednesday."This milestone is the result of years of work and commitment," said Lucy Helm, executive vice president and chief partner officer at Starbucks, in a statement."We've worked hard for a couple of years now to ensure we can get there," Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson told CNN's Maggie Lake on Wednesday.The coffee company added that it will now tell American job candidates the pay range for any position in an effort to increase transparency.Helm explained that the company has been striving for pay equity for about decade. Last year, it was at 99.7% parity. Women make up about one-third of the company's executive team.Starbucks uses several tools to make sure bias doesn't impact how much employees make. The company regularly checks for compensation gaps among employees, and uses a calculator to determine starting pay rate targets based on experience. It doesn't ask job candidates about their salary history, and the company analyzes raises to make sure they're fair.It is working with women's organizations like Billie Jean King's Leadership Initiative and the National Partnership for Women & Families to help guide its efforts."One of the most important things to get right is starting pay," said Sara Bowen, the leader of the Starbucks Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility team.Research shows that women, on average, earn around 80 cents for every dollar a man makes. Seven inmates were killed and 17 others were injured overnight at a South Carolina prison -- the fourth deadly incident at the facility in the past 10 months.No officers were injured in the latest fracas at Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville, said Jeffrey Taillon, spokesman for the South Carolina Department of Corrections.The incident started at 7:15 p.m. ET Sunday and involved "multiple inmate altercations in three housing units," Taillon said.
