CLEVELAND — Sex toys, envelopes and craft supplies are among the products Ohio workers say their companies continue to make or distribute under the protection of being so-called "essential employers" as most businesses across the state have shut down during the Coronavirus outbreak.Workers are raising concerns about their health and safety and remain skeptical whether employers are finding loopholes during Ohio's stay at home order issued by Gov. DeWine requiring non-essential businesses to close as of Monday night."I'm afraid of being fired if I don't come to work," said one employee at AmeriMark, a Cleveland-based direct marketer of women's apparel, shoes, cosmetics and health related merchandise --including more than 30 sex toys included in its "health living essentials."The company also distributes wrist blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, glucose monitors and wheelchairs. The Ohio Department of Health's "Stay at Home Order" specifically includes "distributors of medical equipment."In a recorded message to its employees, workers are being told, "We are happy to report AmeriMark will remain in operation during this period...in this unparalleled time, we are excited to serve AmeriMark customers."The company has not yet responded to our inquiry."My concern is that there are a lot of elderly women working here," said another worker concerned about passing the virus from person to person.The State's StanceDuring Tuesday's news conference, Lt. Governor Jon Husted acknowledged confusion over the definition of an "essential business" and referred employers to Ohio's coronavirus website."It's written in plain language, we ask you to follow the language and use your best judgment," said Husted. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — More than 150 students at Colorado College are being quarantined for the next two weeks after one tested positive for the COVID-19 over the weekend.“At first I was like, shocked, but after a little while it sunk in like, 'Wow, that’s 14 days in one room,'” said Colorado College freshman Andrew Kaelin.Kaelin and Oliver Kendall only met Saturday. On Sunday, these roommates found out they will be spending nearly every minute of the next two weeks with each other. Students are allowed to only leave the room for laundry, bathroom and water. Food for the day is delivered to the room.“It’s a good way to get to know someone,” Kendall said.Before moving in, all students were required to take a COVID-19 test and were asked to isolate in their dorm rooms until the results came back.Brian Young, with Colorado College, said the student who tested positive went into the hallway of the dorm rather than staying in the room.“Immediately, as we isolated, the individual did our contact trace, realized, unfortunately, (that they) didn’t follow the guidelines we were after,” Young said.Neither Young or the El Paso County Health Department could say exactly how many came in contact with the student. Whatever the number was, it was enough to lock down Loomis Hall and the 155 first-year students living there.“All of our students are doing fine. No one is symptomatic,” Young told KMGH.Young said anyone showing even one symptom will be tested immediately. Colorado College is also providing students the ability to speak to a mental health expert as needed. CNN and the New York Times both reported on Friday that Vice President Mike Pence’s several members of the Secret Service’s team tested positive for the virus during his recent trip to Arizona.CNN reported that eight members of Pence’s team had positive COVID-19 tests. Meanwhile, the New York Times reported that two members of Pence’s Secret Service travel team tested positive.The Secret Service has not confirmed the reports.Pence had planned an event in Yuma, Arizona, on Tuesday. Instead, Pence made a brief visit to Phoenix on Wednesday to meet with public health officials.CNN reported that the eight members of Pence’s team remained holed up in Arizona as of Friday evening, citing two sources.The reports come as both Pence and President Donald Trump have ramped up their public schedules, holding rallies and public events. COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Brody Allen, the 2-year-old from Ohio who got an early Christmas this year because doctors said he wouldn't live until December, has died.Brody's father, Todd Allen, posted the news on Facebook Friday."This morning at 6 a.m. Brody passed quietly, and peacefully in the arms of his mother Shilo," he wrote. "He did not suffer. He was surrounded by his family and I have no doubt many angels. While our sadness is immeasurable and we will miss his smiling beautiful soul, we are also comforted in knowing that today our son has touched the face of God."Hundreds of people lined the streets of Colerain Township last month to put on a Christmas parade for Brody after doctors said he wouldn't live long enough to celebrate on the holiday.Neighbors decorated their homes, Brody rode a float in the parade and he got to celebrate at a party with Santa Claus and fireworks."He was so happy, Brody’s sister, McKenzie Allen, said that day. "It was amazing. Not just for him, but for everybody."Word of the early Christmas celebration for Brody spread far once it hit social media. Todd Allen previously said the family was receiving Christmas cards from all over the world."The letters are a blessing to us all. It's become a significant part of our day. And we couldn't enjoy it more," he said.After the big parade and party, the family privately celebrated Christmas Eve and Christmas.Colerain Township officials established a location for well-wishers to leave memorials at Drew Campbell Memorial Park, next to the administrative building at 4200 Springdale Road. All items left there will be given to the Allen family, police said."It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Brody Allen," police said in a news release. "Brody captured our attention and love over the past few months as he and his family bravely battled the disease that has ultimately taken his life."Services for Brody are being finalized and will occur at the end of next week, according to police.
