(KGTV) -- Local cannabis shops are sounding the alarm, saying higher state tax rates set to take effect next year will drive more customers to the black market.Starting January 1, the state will change the way it calculates the excise tax on all marijuana products, effectively raising the rate by 12.5 percent. (KGTV) - A body was discovered in Tecolote Canyon Saturday evening, according to the San Diego Police Department.Police said a transient alerted them to the body in an area off High Knoll road, east of the Tecolote Canyon Golf Course and west of Genesee Ave around 5:45 p.m. A team from the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office worked to extract the body, carrying it about 150 feet up the side of the steep canyon.Police estimate the body had been there for several days and had started decomposing. They believe it is a white man but have not determined an age.At this time the cause of death has not been determined, however investigators do not suspect foul play. 719

LAKE HUGHES (CNS) - A fire burning near the Lake Hughes area was 12% contained but experienced a "flare up" due to extreme heat Friday afternoon after already scorching 11,637 acres, destroying five structures and threatening more over the last three days."There is a bit of a flare up this afternoon, but we don't really have a ton of information of where that is yet because it's going on right now," a U.S. Forest Service official told City News Service late Friday afternoon.Shortly after 5:30 p.m. Friday, additional evacuations were ordered for the Fairmont area east of Lancaster, where residents were told to evacuate from north of Avenue D/Highway 138, south of Avenue A, west of 150th Street West and east of 200th Street West, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Palmdale Station."Fire will continue to grow and threaten the surrounding communities of Lake Hughes, Leona Valley, Lake Elizabeth, Pine Canyon, Quail Lake, Three Points, Historic Ridge Route and Inventoried Roadless Areas, fire officials said during a late-morning update Friday. There are virtual activities hosted through the fair, and one food vendor is still bringing fair food to the community. Chicken Charlie’s is known for deep-fried everything, from Oreos to meat, and this year, the new addition is deep fried taffy. While the fair won’t be happening, Charlie Boughosian has brought his trailer to the Grossmont Center in La Mesa to bring fried food to the community. Friday would have been the first day of the fair, so Charlie made it the first day of shop in the parking lot. “I’m feeling the same kind of pressure I feel on opening day of the fair,” he said Friday.
