OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - For the first time, the embattled founder of a North County nonprofit Mustang horse rescue is speaking on camera with 10News about accusations that she stole crucial donations from the rescue. 10News aired its initial report two weeks ago. At the time, Equinox Horse Rescue founder Sandrine Linglet declined to comment or offer a statement. She has since changed her mind. 10News investigative reporter Jennifer Kastner met with her this Monday.“I have nothing to hide. Nothing,” she told 10News. Linglet is facing allegations in civil court that she suddenly walked away from the nonprofit with most everything the horses needed to survive. “You've been accused of stealing from the charity's funds. Is that true?” we ask. “No. No, it's not,” she replies.Equinox’s new president is Scott Rehn. He was interviewed in 10News’ initial report, where he admitted that he believed Linglet was hiding information after her sudden resignation. He believes that her actions substantially interfered with the nonprofit's ability to conduct day-to-day operations.Equinox is suing her, accusing her, in part, of conversion by taking the charity’s property and donations for her own use. The lawsuit claims that items she kept for personal use include bank statements, tax records, horse titles, a horse trailer, PayPal account information, website information, donated apparel, saddles, bridles, blankets and so on. “She shut down the social media [accounts] immediately. She shut down the website. Those are all the main source of funds to pay for the vet visits, to pay for the hay, to pay for anything and everything these horses need,” added Rehn in our initial story.“I have proof that the rest of the money is [in] my attorney's trust fund. I have a cashier's check to prove that. I have never [taken] a dime,” she tells 10News. She shared with us a copy of what appears to be that check, along with a Facebook message she sent that appears to show that she turned over the rescue’s website password information. Linglet also showed us other documents to aid in her defense, like a copy of the title to a horse trailer that she says proves that the trailer is hers.Linglet tells 10News that she had resigned from Equinox because of threats, insults and hostility from Rehn and his wife, Jennifer. As an example, she says that Jennifer Rehn would use her index and thumb fingers to mimic a gun and shoot it at Linglet when she’d see her in the neighborhood.Linglet explains that she didn’t show up on the date she had planned to return some of the nonprofit’s items because she retained counsel. She says her counsel advised her against going to the meeting to hand everything over. She adds, “My attorney told me, ‘You're not going anywhere. Now you're represented.’”All of Equinox’s horses were eventually taken in by another local nonprofit, ResQue Ranch in Escondido. Ranch manager Michelle Bearer says there was a red flag when she met Rehn.“He kept telling us that he would require 0 for legal fees and I said, “It's not our business to pay for legal fees. We're in the rescue business.’”Linglet says there was another red flag. She shared a bank statement. It shows that after she resigned, three payments of 0 were transferred from the nonprofit to Pacific Suncoast Management, Rehn’s wife's personal company. Rehn later explained to 10News that the transfer was the only way that the nonprofit could immediately access resources to pay for the feed and stable rent, and it was all done legitimately and with the oversight of their attorney. As for the Bearer's claim that Rehn demanded money for legal fees, Rehn clarified that the nonprofit was in dire straits and it was never a demand. He and his wife also deny that they ever made violent threats against Linglet.“They must be really sad in their own life to ruin someone else's life, someone else's legacy and dream,” Linglet adds.Linglet filed a motion to dismiss the case against her. The hearing is this Friday. 4012

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - Students at El Camino High School have a chance to put their stamp on pop culture. They're designing shoes for the Vans Custom Culture competition.El Camino High School is one of just 500 schools in the country to be picked for the contest. More than 200 students submitted designs at the school, but only two will advance to the national competition.Sophomore Isiah Duran is one of the students whose design was chosen."I basically did what I thought was Oceanside," he says. "The pier, sunsets, the beach."The students could make designs based on two categories, "Local Flavor" and "Off the Wall.""It resonates with the younger culture," says El Camino Art Teacher Diego De La Luz. "It resonates with activities that range from biking to skateboarding and really just the Southern California vibe which Oceanside is all about."The winner will receive ,000 for their school's art department. Vans will also endow a scholarship for a student from the winning school to attend the Laguna Art Institute.De La Luz says the students will decide how to spend the money at the school if they win. He adds that ,000 would provide a big boost to the art department, especially as districts tighten their budgets and art programs are often among the first to be cut."Having that opportunity for the cash prize would cushion some of our artistic ambitions for the students," says De La Luz.Students say it's pretty amazing to try and design for a company they already love."I'm wearing Vans right now," says Junior Aymee Locke. "If I had my own design on a shoe and I get to show that off to everyone, I would totally do that. I think that's super cool."The schools have to turn in their designs by April 16. Public voting takes place from April 22 to May 3. The top 5 designs will be announced May 6-10 with the winners announced sometime between May 13 and 17. 1892

On Tuesday, president-elect Joe Biden will formally introduce his picks to head up several key positions in his presidential administration from his transition headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware.During his remarks, Biden confirmed reporting on his choices to fill six key roles in his upcoming administration.Watch the remarks in the video below: Biden's future nominees include:Anthony Blinken, former deputy national security adviser, for Secretary of StateAlejandro Mayorkas, former Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, to lead the same agencyAvril Haines, former Obama Principal Deputy National Security Advisor, for Director of National IntelligenceLinda Thomas-Greenfield, a longtime member of U.S. Foreign Service, to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.Jake Sullivan, Biden campaign policy adviser, as National Security AdviserJohn Kerry, former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential nominee, to be Special Presidential Envoy for Climate.Reports have also surfaced in recent days that Biden intends to nominate former Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen as the Secretary of the Treasury, though he did not make such an announcement on Tuesday.Biden's selections represent a return to a reliance on career bureaucrats and longtime Washington policy advisers for top executive branch positions. Throughout his term, President Donald Trump has filled top posts in his administration with candidates from the private sector.Biden's press conference will take place less than a day after the General Services Administration ascertained him as the winner of the 2020 election. The move grants Biden access to key information, like the daily presidential brief, and funds that can be used to begin hiring key positions.Cabinet-level positions require Senate confirmation, meaning that depending on the outcome of two runoff races in Georgia in January, Biden may face challenges in filling top positions. Democrats will need to win both Senate races to reach 50 seats in the Senate, and would then control the chamber as Vice President Kamala Harris would hold the tie-breaking vote. 2115

OCEAN BEACH (KGTV)- Big waves continue to pound the coast today. A High Surf Advisory is issued until Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Waves reached heights up to eight feet Thursday and along Ocean Beach Pier, some waves reached 10 feet. As we normally see during high surf, advanced surfers made their way to the beaches. In Ocean Beach, crews continued their work to repair the pier despite the high surf below. Waves up to 10 feet crashed into the pier. One Ocean Beach resident tells 10News, "you know we spend all this money to live here and this is one of our facilities, it's sad when its closed". Crews are still on track to reopen the pier by Memorial Day, according to the City of San Diego. 709

On Aug. 26, 2017, 15-year-old Damon Grimes was involved in a police pursuit while driving an ATV. That pursuit ended in a crash on Detroit’s east side that claimed Grimes’ life.Using the Freedom of Information Act, 25-hours worth of video from police body cameras and dash cameras, surveillance video and cellphone video shot by witnesses were released that tell the story of the senseless death. They would not provide footage from the dash cam of the pursuit by MSP Troopers, Mark Bessner and Ethan Berger. At 5:31 p.m., the video shows Damon Grimes riding his ATV down Rossini Avenue and Gratiot in Detroit.Bessner requests priority to chase an ATV. “He flipped. Flipped!” said Detroit Police Officer Williams on the radio.“Yup, tell them there’s an accident,” said DPD Officer Boersman, who was first on the scene.Grimes hit a parked Ford F-150 with his ATV and he flew off the four-wheeler.“He’s got a pulse and he’s breathing,” said Bessner.“0-9, he’s slowed down, we tased him and he crashed out. Have EMS step it up,” said Bessner.“He’s got a pulse,” Bessner said.As Detroit Police Officer Kimberly Buckner heads to the scene in his squad car, you can hear radio chatter from MSP: “If you could just maybe have a unit or two make it there for moral support, sounds like it could be a pretty bad one.”“They never said what they were chasing him for just came over there and said MSP’s in a chase," said Officer Addison.“Don’t run from the State Police, you get f---ed up,” said one officer. Also on video, troopers can be seen attempting CPR on Grimes.“His pulse is weakening, what’s our ETA?” is heard on dispatch.“They tased his ass while he was cruising,” said an officer who walked up to Buckner as he covers her body cam.Buckner then shuts off her camera. As the ambulance arrived around 5:37 p.m., the stretcher is wheeled up to Grimes' body while another officer shuts off his body camera. At this point, Stephenson turns on her body cam.“Should we give them like an escort or something?” she asks DPD Officer Aubrey Wade. “Should we give them an escort to St. Johns?”“For him? Hell no!” said Wade.“They got lights and sirens. We only do that for police,” he said. “If an officer gets shot we’ll do that.”“I didn’t know they were chasing a four-wheeler,” said Stephenson.Grimes was pronounced dead on arrival at St. John’s Hospital.Due to his insensitive comments, Wade was reassigned.Bessner, the passenger in the MSP vehicle in pursuit, is accused of breaking protocol and taser use. He is awaiting an August murder trial. He resigned from Michigan State Police. The Grimes family has filed a million civil suit against Bessner. They have also filed a ,000 suit against Trooper Ethan Berger, the driver of the MSP pursuit vehicle. 2796
