MANILA, Philippines (AP) — An undersea 6.9 magnitude earthquake has struck off the southern Philippines, prompting the potential to generate a tsunami.No casualties or damage have been reported immediately on Saturday.The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake hit at a depth of 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of Davao city in the main southern region of Mindanao.According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC), hazardous tsunami waves were possible within 300 kilometers (186 miles) of the epicenter along the coasts of the Philippines and Indonesia. LUTZ, Fla. — A South Carolina man was arrested in Florida after Hillsborough County deputies say he planned to commit a crime he planned for eight months.The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said on Sunday, August 16 at 2:43 a.m., the suspect, Phillip Thomas, 24, entered a home within the Promenade at Lake Park in Lutz.Detectives learned Thomas parked his car at Idle Wild Church earlier that night, walked to the home, cut a hole in the patio screen, and remained there for about three to four hours. He was watching and listening through the windows, officials said.After the homeowner went to bed, Thomas came in through the back sliding door which activated the home alarm. It prompted the homeowner to look out the window and spot Thomas.The homeowner and a guest left the home in a car and called 911.When deputies arrived, Thomas was still inside the home.According to public records, the home is owned by Daria Berenato. She is a WWE wrestler who goes by the name Sonya Deville. “I have spoken to her and I’m glad she’s safe and I’m thankful and grateful that the sheriff's office took care of the situation immediately. Celebrity status aside this is sickening. I am a product of a sexual assault and have zero-tolerance or respect for any human being that would violate a person's privacy and or personal space," said WWE Superstar Titus O'Neil.Deputies discovered he was carrying a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, mace, and other items.Through the investigation, detectives discovered Thomas lived in South Carolina and came to Lutz specifically targeting the homeowner."We know the suspect was completely obsessed with the victim and they had been trying to engage in a conversation for several years, but were unsuccessful, and then Sunday night is when they tried to confront the victim," said Natalia Verdina, a public information officer with HCSO.Thomas told deputies he was planning to take the homeowner hostage."Our deputies are unveiling the suspect's disturbing obsession with this homeowner who he had never met, but stalked on social media for years," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "It's frightening to think of all the ways this incident could have played out had the home alarm not gone off and alerted the homeowner of an intruder. Maryland-based vaccine developer, Novavax, has received .6 billion from the federal government to complete late-stage clinical development; set up large-scale manufacturing; and deliver 100 million doses of NVX?CoV2373, its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, as early as late 2020.This is the largest vaccine deal to date with the Trump administration as part of their Operation Warp Speed, which is focused on making a COVID-19 vaccine and treatments available as quickly as possible.Novavax has not brought any of their developed vaccines to market. According to information on their website, they have developed several vaccines for infectious diseases, however they are all in various stages of development or clinical trials. These include vaccines for the seasonal flu and RSV. Other vaccines created by Novavax are not actively being developed or studied at this time, including ones for Ebola, MERS, and SARS.According to a statement from Novavax, the agreement with the federal government includes the company demonstrating being able to rapidly get manufacturing and large-scale production of the vaccine going once approved. Novavax hopes to conduct their late-stage clinical study with 30,000 subjects in fall 2020.An early-stage clinical study took place in Australia in May on 130 participants. The fast-food mogul says these updates will enhance the guest experience. Not only is it great for business, but it's great for communities. Franchise operator Laura Bucar says in her 40 years of doing business, McDonald's has never invested this much money into it's existing chains. "When we decide to move on anything, what that creates for the community, as far as jobs and resources, is incredible,” says Bucar. In order to create an incredible experience, McDonald's is investing millions of dollars into nearly every state to update their restaurants.“We just finished ours in July, and I can’t tell you how many electricians and plumbers locally that were sourced to come in, and even digital and technical people and so it really adds to the economy,” says Bucar.Each fast food restaurant is able to customize their artwork inside.
