SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are investigating a shooting in the Chollas Creek area Friday that left a man with multiple gunshot wounds.San Diego Police say a 22-year-old Hispanic male was walking in the 5300 block of Lea St. when he was approached by a Hispanic male suspect sometime before 7 p.m. Friday. A brief conversation began between the two, before the suspect pulled out a handgun and fire four times at the man, police say.The man was hit three times by gunfire. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.The suspect fled the scene in a red sedan, heading eastbound on Lea St. He is described as being 5-foot 8-inches tall with thin build. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Newly-released census numbers show residents are fleeing California in sizable numbers.Angie Romero of was outside a U-Haul trailer, packed with rented wine barrels she will be using as decor for her 50th birthday party.  She'll likely be renting another U-Haul in the not-so-distant future."The cost of living puts you in another mindset.  I'm getting older and start wondering about my future," said Romero.Romero, who works in sales, plans on packing up and leaving the state within the next two years.  One reason: the rent for her apartment near San Diego."I've lived there three years, and every year it's gone up either or ," said Romero.Romero is hardly alone. According to the latest census numbers, in the year-span ending July 2017, adding up all the people moving into and out of California translates into a net loss of 138,000 people. In San Diego County, there is also an apparent exodus with a net loss of nearly 16,000 people in the year ending in July 2017. In the previous year, there was a loss of 8,300 people.         1148

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot in the leg in East Village late Saturday night.Authorities say a 48-year-old man parked his car on 11th and E Street near City College Station around 10:50 p.m. Saturday.The man got out of the car and started walking when he saw two people arguing and heard gunshots.According to police, the man got into his car and began to drive away when he felt a pain in his right leg, looked down and saw that he was bleeding.Police said at this time, they don’t have any description of the suspects.The man drove himself to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 642

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Padres outfielder Tommy Pham is recovering after being stabbed in the back Sunday night, the team says.According to San Diego Police, Pham was stabbed during an altercation Sunday night.The Padres said Monday that Pham is in “good condition.” He is expected to make a full recovery.“We are aware of the incident last night involving Tommy Pham. He was treated at UC San Diego Health and is currently in good condition. He is expected to make a full recovery. The San Diego Police Department is actively investigating the incident and we will have no further comment at this time,” the Padres said.Pham Monday also thanked the medical staff in charge of his care.“I’d like to thank the incredible medical staff at UC San Diego Health for taking such great care of me last night. I truly appreciate the hard work of the SDPD as well as they continue their search for the suspects. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Next week, new San Diego Police de-escalation policies will be presented — and likely approved — in response to weeks of demonstrations after George Floyd's death. Danny Murphy is the Deputy Commissioner of Compliance for the Baltimore Police Department, which underwent sweeping reforms following public outrage over the 2015 death of Freddie Gray.“After the Freddie Gray incident, the Department of Justice launched an investigation into the Baltimore Police Department and found a pattern or practice of unconstitutional policing,” Murphy told 10News.RELATED:San Diego Police to implement new de-escalation policyReview board recommends de-escalation reforms to San Diego PoliceThe Baltimore Police Department's new policy requires that the use-of-force not only be reasonable but also necessary and proportional to the situation.
