CARMEL, Ind. -- A 22-year-old man stole a popular English bulldog from a family's yard last year, leading to a social media campaign to try and find him, police say.Reid Albrecht, 22, is accused of stealing a bulldog, named Gus, from a yard in the 3000 block of Hazel Foster Drive. The theft happened in October 2017. During the Carmel Police Department's investigation of Gus' disappearance, multiple people said they remembered seeing Albrecht with a bulldog that matched the description. Albrecht had been telling people he adopted the bulldog from the Humane Society, but neither the Indianapolis nor the Hamilton County Humane Society had a record of him adopting an animal.Albrecht was known to live with his father at a house about 1,000 feet from the victim's house.At the time of his arrest, Albrecht was in jail serving a 180-day sentence for possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. The Facebook page "Gus is Missing" has nearly 1,900 likes, with many people sharing and commenting that they hope Gus will be returned to his home. CAMERON PARISH, La. – Hurricane Laura made landfall along the Louisiana coast, specifically near the community of Cameron. Not much information has come out from there, in part because several of the roads that lead down there remain flooded. Highway 27, one of the main roads in and out of the communities of Creole and Cameron, is covered in water.A deputy with the sheriff’s office said they had not been able to return to their station in Cameron. They left Wednesday before the storm.The roads are barely passable there – in order to get to an elevated bridge on 27, drivers need to use a gravel shoulder between the main road and the waterway that runs next to it. About 12 miles from the shore, the road begins to flood.It can be a little deceiving here in coastal Louisiana because the coast is made up of bayous and marshes.Some people have taken it upon themselves to bring their personal boats in an attempt to get to some of those communities along the coast.The sheriff’s office said some people did ride out Hurricane Laura in some of those coastal communities, but communications have been spotty at best. As for the roads, the water will need to recede, before the recovery there can truly begin. 1220

(KGTV) -- Several activist groups will gather outside the Carlsbad Police Department on Thursday, demanding change following a controversial encounter between an African-American man and Carlsbad officers last month.The group will release details on a meeting they had with the Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Carlsbad, Mickey Williams. The meeting was organized to address the use of force and arrest of a Black man by officers on June 11.The police department previously released a video that juxtaposed three camera angles of the confrontation with the Marcel Cox-Harshaw.RELATED: Police release body camera footage amid public concerns over officer misconductA witness' phone shows officers using a Taser on Harshaw and pressing his head into the pavement. BUFFALO, N.Y. — When a man's car was damaged in an alleged hit-and-run accident, it was a note from a sixth grader who helped him find who was responsible.According to Andrew Sipowicz, he received an anonymous note on his car from a student at Houghton Academy explaining that she had been aboard a bus that had damaged his car in an accident. The bus driver then fled the scene.Sipowicz shared the note alongside two pictures on his Twitter feed with the caption: "Shoutout to the anonymous 6th grader for saving me a couple thousand (Bus not drawn to scale)."As of early Wednesday afternoon, Sipowicz's tweet has been liked more than half a million times and retweeted more than 100,000 times.He later noted on Twitter that he had found the girl who wrote the letter and was "in the process of finding a way to reward her for her actions." 869
