KENOSHA, Wis. – Kenosha is still reeling from a police shooting that ignited riots, leading to catastrophic property damage. Now, the community is trying to heal and look forward with artists who have come from all over.One block away from where Jacob Blake was shot residents of the Wisconsin city are determined to heal, one brush stroke at a time.“All of the downtown area was boarded up with plywood,” said Francisco Loyola, Director of the Kenosha Creative Space. “And it was protected but it looked like a ghost town.”The Kenosha Creative Space is a nonprofit that connects artists to the community.Loyola put out a call to artists in an effort to begin the process of healing by turning boarded up businesses into works of art.“Right now, we don't know exactly how many boards have been painted,” said Loyola.What they do know is that artists have heeded the call from all over the country and even Canada to support Kenosha.Artist and activist Roberto Marquez traveled up from Dallas. After consulting with the Blake family, he put his brush to work to depict how he sees the event that thrust the city of around 100,000 into the national spotlight.“Some of the people, they might not like it, but that's the reality,” said Marquez. “I mean, I didn't pose a problem. I'm just, you know, painting with my brush.”There are also students trying to make sense of what has happened in their quiet community.“We thought that it would be the best thing to take them out of these cages that we've been calling our homes. And let them exert their energy and their passion their desire,” said Ardis L. Mahone Mosley at the Kenosha Unified School District. “We've been very unified as of recently.”High school junior Aniyah Ervin says in a volatile time of uncertainty, this is one way to come together to mend some of the hurt.“It's been very healing, honestly, because although we know it's not permanent, it's good to show how together we are at the moment,” said Ervin. “You know, it may all burn down again next week. We don't know. But as of now, we're all together, we're all making art. We're all making Kenosha as beautiful as we know it to be.” 2159

JULIAN, Calif. (KGTV) – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man they say punched someone in the face near Julian after accusing him of trespassing.Deputies say they became aware of a series of theft-related crimes on the 5600 block of Eagle Park Road in August.The victims were outdoorsmen enjoying activities in the Cleveland National Forest. On November 6, Deputy Craig Rembold was contacted by a man who was hunting in the area on the 5th when he was accused of trespassing by a local land owner later identified as Frank Martinez, 54.During the conversation, Martinez punched the man in the face, causing significant injuries to the victim. On November 15, deputies arrested Martinez during a traffic stopped. He was taken to jail for battery and firearm violations.Martinez was arrested for battery and firearm violations. JACKSONVILLE, Florida — A Florida gas station owner is “sick and tired” of people using the microwave to warm containers of urine. Parul Patel has placed a sign in his store asking customers to stop committing this act. He owns a BP gas station and On the Fly convenience store in Jacksonville, which are within walking distance of two labs. One lab said it does not collect drug test samples. He said that people walk in off the street, microwave their containers and then leave. Warming urine from a person who has not taken drugs is seen by some as a way to pass a drug test. A few months ago a woman became aggressive with Patel when he asked her to not warm urine. He said she asked to see a sign that forbids this, so he made one.  785

KGTV - A video appearing to show the arrest of an undocumented immigrant is making rounds on the internet.The incident was livestreamed on Facebook by Ryan McAdams, who says he was out with Watkins Bail Bonds on Sunday when they were called to collect a client they had bonded out for a crime.“A relative of the individual in the video called the bond office that the individual didn’t have his papers in order and he was looking to abscond,” said McAdams “and go back south over the border.”McAdams adds that what he recorded and posted to Facebook is a legit operation.However, some like Chicano activist Alexis Del Castillo says the video is tasteless and shows the exploitation of an immigrant.“He didn’t just bully him he like tormented him in front of everyone,” said Del Castillo, “I think it takes someone really despicable to do that sort of thing.”McAdams says he knows some people see it a certain way, but he just wants people to understand the reality others have to deal with.“He was in there for a DUI arrest and he was going to flee on that leaving a company ,000 dollars behind,” said McAdams, “Everyone is held up to the same laws.”  1191
