SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County will plan their own guidance around trick-or-treating and celebrating Halloween next month while staying safe during the pandemic.County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten said the county will develop guidance surrounding how to safely celebrate the holiday while adhering to public health orders. Wooten added that they will also take cues from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the agency's guidance as well.Wooten said the county plans to have those recommendations by the end of the month."During the cloud of the pandemic, we have to get joy where we can. So we will be awaiting CDC guidelines but we'll be coming up with a process, a protocol," said Wooten. Wednesday, county officials walked back that guidance and said the trick-or-treating is "not recommended.""Trick-or-treating, we're highly recommending that it not happen," Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said. "We don't think it's an appropriate activity during a pandemic. ... You know, there's no guarantee when you go trick-or-treating that your child goes up to a house where the person who opens the door is wearing a face covering. And when you don't know the people opening the door, there's no guarantee they're not sick and that the candy they're passing out that they've touched may not be safe for you to want your child to be sharing."Wednesday, San Diego County reported 247 new coronavirus cases, bringing the region's total to 41,324. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police investigated in Little Italy Saturday the suspicious death of a woman who appeared to be homeless.Officers received a 911 call at 3:42 a.m. reporting a body found at West Hawthorn and State streets, just west of Interstate 5.The woman appeared to have traumatic injuries but investigators could not immediately determine the source of them.The victim, who has not been identified, was in her 40's or 50's.Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. 586

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Residents in a senior mobile home park in Oceanside are worried about speeding drivers after two ducks were hit and killed Wednesday. Neighbors told 10News a mom, dad and baby duck were crossing the road around 5 a.m. when a newspaper delivery driver ran them over.Several residents reported that the driver responsible delivers the San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper and regularly speeds on their narrow roads.The UT told 10News their carriers are employed by a separate company but issued the following statement: "We have learned that a carrier from an independent distributor, who delivers The San Diego Union-Tribune, may have been involved in an auto collision involving a family of ducks. Safety is a priority for us and we support safe and respectful work practices among the vendors with whom we do business. We share the concerns of the residents and encourage the distributor to review the incident and address any unsafe practices." 970

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Real estate company Zillow launched a new service in San Diego Monday that gives homeowners another option for selling their property.The service, called Zillow Offers, will present a cash offer to homeowners who want to sell their home as-is, without the need for open houses or renovations.This is the second market in California that Zillow has offered the service. In the last quarter, Zillow charged an average fee of 7.5% on transactions in the cities it currently operates.“Are they going to get top dollar? No, they are not,” said Mark Goldman, a loan officer and a former real estate professor.On the flip side, Goldman realizes the advantage comes in the form of convenience.“What they are getting is turning the house into cash very quickly and with the least amount of hassle,” said Goldman.In San Diego, realtor Kyle Whissel will be working with Zillow on the ground to act as Zillow’s buying agent as well as their selling agent once the home is market-ready.“We’ll give [Zillow] our opinion of value, they’ll punch that into their algorithm and that will spit it out a price to the homeowner,” Whissel said.The homeowner will then decide if they want to sell at that price, after which they can set a close date within as little as 5 days.“Zillows goal is to come in at market value, make a little bit of improvements, similar to improvements someone would make to put their home on the market,” said Whissel. “Once those are made, we’ll put it back on market at the new market value.” 1527

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are looking for the husband of a City Heights woman found dead by her sister Monday morning.Police say 45-year-old Abdiaziz Kerow is a person of interest and is sought for questioning by detectives, but has yet to be located. Kerow's wife, 36-year-old Muna Salad Kuri, was found dead in her apartment in the 4000 block of Van Dyke Ave., police say.Family members say they last heard from Kuri on Saturday.RELATED: Woman finds sister dead in City Heights homeWhen Kuri's sister came to the apartment to check on her Monday, there was no answer and the landlord unlock the door.
