Renowned Tulsa saxophonist and Race Massacre survivor, Hal Singer, has passed away, just a few months shy of his 101st birthday.The French city of Chatou announced the news of his death. Singer resided in the town for more than 20 years."Weakened in recent years, Hal Singer has passed out peacefully surrounded by his wife and family," the release stated.Singer, who was born in Tulsa on Oct. 8, 1919, would go on to have an "exceptional 70-year career, from Duke Ellington to Ray Charles, to Billie Holiday," the release said.According to the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame website, Singer topped the R&B charts in Sept. 1948 with his instrumental recording "Corn Bread.""The City just lost a friend, an artist, and a great man," the release concluded. RANCHO BERNARDO (KGTV) - A 54-year-old man was pinned between two cars when he was rear-ended by a teen later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The victim was towing his Nissan Sentra in a BMW when he stopped check the tow straps in the 14900 block of Camino Del Norte in Rancho Bernardo around 9 p.m. Saturday. Related: Valley Center wrong-way head-on crash As he stood between the two vehicles a 16-year-old boy in a 2000 Nissan Xterra rear-ended the vehicles and pinned him between both the BMW and Nissan Sentra.According to Officer Robert Heims, the force of the collision broke both of the man's legs. (KGTV) — Poor road conditions and speed are being blamed for a solo-vehicle crash that left one person dead.California Highway Patrol said a Mitsubishi Montero was traveling northbound on State route 67, just north of Shady Bend, at about 6 a.m. Friday when it entered a slight curve on the roadway.
