MOSCOW, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- An assembly line of Chinese automaker Geely was officially launched in Russia's Caucasus republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, local media reported Saturday.     Russian car company Derways has started body welding and other assembling work of Geely-brand vehicles on Friday, according to Russian state TV channel Russia-24.     Some 1,100 units were expected to be produced by the end of February, the first batch of which will be delivered to Moscow by Jan. 20. The annual production of Geely will be no lower than 12,000 units.     Besides Geely, Derways was also scheduled to manufacture for other Chinese brands such as Li Fan, Great Wall Motors, Chery and Haima. The total annual output of the Derways company was estimated to reach 100,000 units.     Local residents could enjoy price discounts when purchasing these cars, according to the company, which also foresees a great demand of Chinese vehicles on Russian market.

BEIJING, March 16 (Xinhua)-- The China "Summer Davos" summit, due to be held in September in the north China city of Tianjin, will again focus on sustainability and the green economy, said Andre Schneider, managing director of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Tuesday.The detailed agenda would be designed to meet the changing new growth context with more discussion of new business models and technical innovations, Schneider said in a press briefing in Beijing.The "Summer Davos" 2010, or the fourth Annual Meeting of the New Champions, would be a continuation of the third-round meeting last year, which had focused on the way out of crisis, said Schneider.With the theme, "Driving Growth Through Sustainability," this year's summit, from Sept. 13 to 15, is expected to attract more than 1,500 participants, including business executives, politicians, economists and scientists from about 90 countries.On the global economy picture, Schneider said the deep financial and structural roots of the "Great Recession" made it difficult to predict the shape of future growth.Schneider said the future also remained unclear for advanced economies, which the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development forecast, would see a possible 10-percent unemployment rate in the second half of this year.Though the emerging and developing economies accounted for almost 50 percent of global GDP, their growth was not decoupled from the rest of the world, said Schneider.

We will also work on weekends to receive donations," he said.In Dujiangyan City, about 200 students and teachers at the Xiang'e Primary School held a candlelight vigil Monday evening, praying for the children in Haiti.Sichuan is now recovering from the 8.0-magnitude quake on May 12, 2008, which left about 87,000 people dead or missing."The Haiti quake reminds me of the Wenchuan (in Sichuan) quake. We Sichuan people are beneficiaries of domestic and international assistance. Now it's time for us to give a hand to Haiti people," said Tan Yunjun, a staff of the Dongfang Turbine Co. Ltd. in Sichuan's Deyang City.The company suffered severe losses in the Wenchuan quake, with building collapses and huge casualties.The company held a donation ceremony on Monday, collecting more than 80,000 yuan from the staff in less than one hour. Zhang Zhiying, general manager of the company, said the company would contribute another 50,000 yuan."The Chinese nation has a fine tradition of being indebted to others, and every staff in our company is willing to show their love for Haiti people," said staff Chen Xin.
