(KGTV)- Video of a disturbing racist rant was captured in downtown San Diego Tuesday, and the man who experienced the verbal attack is sharing his story.Rodney Jackson was working as a security guard outside of the Pinnacle on the Park apartment complex in the East Village when an unidentified woman began hurling racial slurs at him.“I was trying my best to diffuse the situation, and she just continued to antagonize,” said Jackson. “It kind of caught me off guard because I’ve never dealt with anything like that before.”RELATED: Mother responds to video showing woman hurling racial slurs at son (VIDEO)In the video he recorded, the woman repeatedly attacks Jackson with racial slurs, even after he asks her to stop.“I started recording just to save myself because of everything going on,” he said.The unprovoked verbal attack happened in the early morning hours on Tuesday.Jackson said the woman was kicked out of a party at the high rise.“She went outside and started arguing with some people walking back, I asked her to come in the building, and I’ll call her a cab,” he said.He said she appeared to be intoxicated and suddenly directed her anger at him.“I told her again, ‘I called you a cab, but I don’t agree with the way you’re calling me all these different names’ and she just continues.”The video shows the woman calling Jackson the N-word repeatedly during the confrontation.“If you’re going to act like a n-----, then I’m going to call you n-----,” the unidentified woman shouts at Jackson. “I don’t [expletive] care!”Jackson remains calm and composed as the woman continues to harass him.“My mother and my grandmother, they raised me never to let anyone get me too upset to where it gets me out of character or changes the person that I am,” he said. “They raised me to be a strong black man.”Jackson said he grew up in National City in a multi-cultural neighborhood, and this was his first time experiencing something like this.“I’ve never looked at people by their color,” he said. “I played semi-pro football for a San Diego team, and we had people from all kinds of ethnic backgrounds, and we’re all just a family.”Jackson’s brother and mother shared the video on social media to highlight the issue of racism.He said he hopes the painful video will serve as a reminder that racism does still exists, even in that community.“Be open-minded and accept people for who they are. San Diego (KGTV)- It’s been one year since the deadly bluff collapse in Encinitas, killing three members of the same family. The husband and father of two of the women is still calling for changes along the beach.Dr. Pat Davis says this past year has been tough after losing wife Julie Davis, daughter Annie Clave and sister-in-law Elizabeth Charles.The family was out for a day at the beach last August when suddenly the bluff gave out.“It was important for me that this kind of accident never is able to happen to any other family,” says Davis.Davis says since the tragic accident, there has been little change at Grandview beach. “There’s very few new signs warning people about these cliffs.”Davis is calling on local and state leaders to stabilize the bluffs. He’s hoping a new bill will help. S.B. 1090 offers solutions like sand replenishment. It currently sits in the Senate.“We got over 4,000 signatures in one month of people supporting the bill.”In the meantime, Davis is thanking the community for its continued support. A park bench sits at the top of Grandview Beach, honoring his family members.“Not that there’s an easy side of learning to live with the loss and one of your children but, certainly family support and community support has been a great help in allowing my family to move forward.”Davis says community members also came together to place another memorial bench in their neighborhood. 1423

Gavin Newsom declared an emergency Tuesday over wildfires burning throughout California as the state's power grid operator pleaded for continued conservation to avoid rolling blackouts. The grid operator praised residents and businesses for astonishing conservation efforts that kept the power on Monday night. The state is in a days-long heatwave that has stressed the electrical system and resulted in rolling blackouts over two nights last weekend. Outages, excessive heat, wildfire and the pandemic have people on edge. Evacuations were in effect or growing in several Northern California communities because of growing fires. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A man who illegally demolished a San Francisco house designed by modernist architect Richard Neutra was ordered this week to rebuild it exactly as it was.The city Planning Commission also ordered Ross Johnston to add a sidewalk plaque telling the entire saga of the house's origins in the 1930s, its demolition and replication.It's not known whether he will follow through.
