(KGTV) - Police are asking the public's help to identify a man suspected of trying to lure a child away from her mother at a North County Walmart.Oceanside Police said the incident occurred on Sept. 6 after a juvenile female and her mom shopping at the Walmart location at 705 College Boulevard reported a stolen cell phone.Police said security footage showed a man following the pair around the store and taking the juvenile's cell phone from their cart when they were not looking. The mother and daughter reported the phone stolen to security, according to police."Shortly after the girl and her mom reported the lost phone to security, the male started conversing with the juvenile and stated he had her phone in his vehicle," Bussey said.The man started talking with the juvenile, police said, and stated he had her cell phone in his vehicle, a white hatchback, possibly a Hyundai Elantra GT."The male was possibly attempting to lure the juvenile to his vehicle to retrieve the phone," OPD said in a release."I watch really closely. I've got a younger guy so he stays attached to my hip; thank goodness but this is gonna make me even more vigilant. OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — A Northern California prosecutor says she's reopening an investigation into the killing of a 22-year-old Black man at a train station by a transit officer 11 years ago. Oscar Grant was shot and killed by a Bay Area Rapid Transit officer on New Year's Day in 2009. The officer was charged with murder, found guilty of a lesser charge, and served 11 months in jail. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A U.S. Marine Corps truck caught fire on northbound Interstate 5 in Oceanside Friday afternoon, backing up traffic on the busy freeway. Witnesses reported the military vehicle on fire with small explosions about 1 p.m., according to Oceanside Fire Division Chief Pete Lawrence. Two Marines were in the truck when “they heard a loud bang and immediately saw smoke and fire in the rear of the cab,” Lawrence said. The troops escaped without injury. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Oceanside Wednesday afternoon. According to the Oceanside Police Department, the crash happened around 4:18 on State Route 76 at Old Grove. When officers arrived, they found the man lying in the street. He was taken to the hospital with a serious head injury.
