This weekend marks the official astronomical beginning of summer, and it will also feature a solar eclipse creating a rare “ring of fire”. Set your alarm and watch this unique event online.Around 2:30 a.m. EDT on Sunday, the moon will pass between the Earth and the Sun, causing an annular solar eclipse to be seen from parts of Africa, southern Europe and Asia.Given the orbital position of the Moon and Earth right now, the eclipse at its peak will show a bright ring of light around the moon, which some call a “ring of fire”. The Latin word “annulus” means ring, this is why it is called an annular solar eclipse when there is a ring of sunlight around the moon.The best viewing for this astronomical event will be along a narrow strip from Africa through India to the Pacific Ocean. Transportation Security Administration said air travelers abandoned more than 6,000 at security checkpoints in 2019.As it turns out, it's money TSA can claim if someone doesn't come back for it, Dallas Morning News reported.On Friday, the government agency released its annual report for the total of the nation's 75 biggest airports, which they are required to submit to Congress by law.The report covers the period between October 2018 and September 2019.John F. This is typically one of the most exciting times of the year, with high school football getting close to kicking off the season.Unfortunately, COVID-19 sidelined football and a bunch of other sports."It's a concern," says Caledonia, Michigan, clinical psychologist Dr. Nicole Beurkens, "because surveys throughout this pandemic have shown that student-athletes, in particular, are showing rates of anxiety and depression that are steadily increasing and rates of physical activity that are decreasing."It's a combination that Dr. Beurkens says can cause some serious problems."People often underestimate how connected those two things are," she says, "But the research shows us over and over again that getting some form of physical movement, physical activity, or exercise in on a daily basis is critical for supporting our mental health, and that's especially true for children and for teens."So, with many sports in a timeout, Dr. Beurkens says parents should be looking for signs of mental health issues."I think that if parents start to notice that their child is withdrawing more and more, not participating in things that they used to participate in, withdrawing more from the family, getting a lot more irritable, maybe feeling more anxious about things, expressing more hesitation to do things that they were comfortable doing, those are signs that anxiety or depression may be an issue."She says keeping your kids active during this time is invaluable."For kids still to be involved in physical activities around weight training practice, many of the schools are working on how to safely have kids together to continue to participate in drill training, in working on things that they work during the season, even though they won't be competing. That's a great way to provide not only structure but also those relational kinds of opportunities."And above all else, Dr. Beurkens says, keep talking."Open communication is one of the things that really helps kids to work through this types of challenging situations. There are 88 national park forests in the US you could choose from that would allow you to cut your own Christmas tree.And all you need is a Christmas tree cutting permit.According to the U.S. Forest Service, visitors need a Forest Service-issued permit, which is available for purchase on the Recreation.gov website or at local offices.According to a press release, the Forest Service began selling permits in a "modernize" way on Oct. 15, as a way to minimize in-person interaction during the coronavirus pandemic.The program, the agency said, is also good for the forest."The Christmas tree permit program is also a tool used in thinning dense, unhealthy stands of trees," the agency stated in an October press release. "Forest health experts help identify areas where Christmas trees can be cut, opening up forage for wildlife and allowing the remaining trees to grow larger."According to the Forest Service, there are specific guidelines to follow, including having your permit on you at all times. You'll also need to contact the forest district office nearest you for cutting instructions.The permits will set you back between to , varying by location. 1173

Thousands of Qualcomm workers are facing uncertainty as the San Diego tech giant considers Broadcom's 0 billion takeover bid. Analysts say a takeover could include layoffs.If that happens, those displaced workers may actually find their next job in a craft brewery or coffee shop. That opportunity stems from Qualcomm's 2015 layoff of 1,300 local workers.At the time, the San Diego Workforce Partnership decided not to hold a traditional job fair. The organization is charged with helping laid off workers find new jobs. But CEO Peter Callstrom said the traditional job fair wouldn't work, and opted for a more relaxed environment."We can do it with some great craft brew and conversation and find that next career path," he said. The partnership came up with a smaller, happy hour style job fair, where former Qualcomm workers could connect with local tech employers like ESET and Tritech Software Systems. It worked. And last year the White House honored the program. Now, hiring at Happy Hour events are taking place at craft breweries - and coffee shops - across the county, focusing on fields like health care, life sciences, advanced manufacturing and clean energy. The events are free and open to the public but you have to register ahead of time.
