LONDON (AP) — Britain, the United States and Canada are accusing Russia of trying to steal information from researchers seeking a COVID-19 vaccine.The three nations alleged Thursday that hacking group APT29, also known as Cozy Bear and believed to be part of the Russian intelligence service, is attacking academic and pharmaceutical coronavirus research institutions involved in vaccine development.They say the persistent and ongoing attacks are seen as an effort to steal intellectual property, rather than to disrupt research.Britain’s National Cybersecurity Centre made the announcement, coordinated with authorities in the U.S. and Canada.The NCSC says APT29 uses a variety of tools and techniques to predominantly target governmental, diplomatic, think-tank, healthcare and energy targets for intelligence gain.“Throughout 2020, APT29 has targeted various organizations involved in COVID-19 vaccine development in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, highly likely with the intention of stealing information and intellectual property relating to the development and testing of COVID-19 vaccines,” wrote the NCSC.It’s also unclear whether Russian President Vladimir Putin knew about the vaccine hacking, but officials believe such intelligence would be highly prized. 1294

LOS ANGELES – A judge ruled Thursday that Starbucks and other coffee sellers must label coffee sold in California with cancer warnings, according to the Associated Press.The decision comes after a lawsuit was filed by the nonprofit Council for Education and Research on Toxins that targeted several companies, including Starbucks and 7-Eleven, CNN previously reported.The lawsuit alleged that the companies “failed to provide clear and reasonable warning” that drinking coffee could expose people to acrylamide, which is created when coffee beans are roasted.Court documents filed by the nonprofit state that, under Proposition 65, businesses must warn people about the presence of agents that affect health.The coffee industry claimed that the acrylamide was present, but only in harmless levels. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Orange County sheriff's deputies shot and killed a Black man Wednesday after he allegedly tried to grab one of their guns during a struggle. According to an Orange County Sheriff's Department press release, two deputies from the Homeless Outreach Team made contact with the man outside the Hotel Miramar in San Clemente. "During the contact, a physical altercation occurred. Surveillance video at the scene showed that during the physical altercation, the subject attempted to gain control of a deputy’s gun," the department said in the news release. "Shortly after, a deputy-involved shooting occurred. Deputies began lifesaving measures, and the subject was pronounced deceased at the scene."The latest killing of a Black person by law enforcement happened on the same day as the decision not to charge Kentucky police officers for Breonna Taylor's death was announced. Part of the incident Wednesday afternoon in San Clemente, California, was captured on video and posted to social media by the Southern Orange County Black Lives Matter group. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Automobile Club of Southern California says it's expecting this year's Thanksgiving holiday to be the busiest in Southern California since 2005, with 4.2 million residents expected to get away for the long weekend.That's a 5.1 percent increase over last year, the AAA said in a statement. The vast majority of Southern California travelers -- 3.6 million or 86 percent of all travelers -- will drive to their destinations, a 5.1 percent increase over last year.
