(KGTV) — Police have made an arrest after the body of a man was discovered in a bank parking lot late Wednesday.Chula Vista Police said 37-year-old Angel Padilla was arrested shortly before 12 p.m. on Thursday in the 300 block of Third Avenue.Police said a suspect matching Padilla's description was seen on security footage with a hatchet-type weapon near where the victim was found.The victim was discovered just before 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday behind the Bank of America located at 295 E Street. CINCINNATI -- Police in North Carolina detained a Cincinnati-bound American Airlines passenger Monday after the man reportedly ran off the plane onto the tarmac and swung a punch at an airport worker, Business Insider reported.While boarding Flight 5466 from Charlotte, North Carolina to Cincinnati on Feb. 26, the man appeared disoriented, according to the report. Another passenger on the plan, Kelly Smekens, told video licensing agency Storyful that airline officials asked the man to leave the flight because of his behavior. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A former employee of the Sweetwater Union High School District pleaded guilty Wednesday to an embezzlement charge for siphoning more than ,000 from the district.Danya Margarita Williams, 42 of Chula Vista, is scheduled to be sentenced June 13 in a Chula Vista courtroom. Another embezzlement count, as well as a grand theft count, are expected to be dismissed as part of the plea deal.As part of her job, Williams was responsible for processing money orders received for fingerprint background investigations at the district, which are required during employment screenings, according to Chula Vista police Capt. Phil Collum.Each background investigation costs between to per applicant, and the applicants pay the fee using money orders, he said.``Instead of processing the money in accordance with district requirements, Williams deposited the money into her personal bank account,'' Collum said.District officials discovered the embezzlement -- which occurred between June 2016 and December 2017 -- and reported it to police, he said. (KGTV) - Chula Vista Police officers and San Diego County Sheriff's deputies surrounded a South Bay home Friday in a SWAT standoff.San Diego Sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle near Orange Avenue and Interstate 805 in Chula Vista for a vehicle violation at about 12 p.m., according to SDSO. Deputies were working a multi-agency narcotics operation when the stop occurred.A passenger, identified as Fernando Salas, fled the vehicle shortly after the stop was initiated. Salas resisted deputies' attempted to detain him, SDSO said, resulting in minor injuries to one deputy.Salas fled into a home in the 1400 block of Camellia Court, prompting a standoff.The occupants of the home forced Salas to surrender and he was taken into custody by deputies on charges of resisting a deputy, according to SDSO. The driver of the stopped vehicle, identified as Daniel Garcia, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of metal knuckles.A person inside the home, identified as Angel Garcia, was also arrested for felony child endangerment for "his actions during the incident," according to SDSO.Several individuals ran from the home. Officers and deputies handcuffed as many as 12 people and placed them in U.S. Border Patrol or Sheriff's department vehicles. A child and dog were also removed from the home.Only Salas, Daniel Garcia, and Angel Garcia were arrested though, SDSO said.Sheriff's deputies and Chula Vista Police officers cleared the scene around 3 p.m. but didn't brief media on the situation before leaving. 1621
