President Donald Trump spoke about a bunch of subjects at his White House press briefing on Wednesday.President Trump and his Coronavirus adviser Scott Atlas spoke to the media about COVID-19 vaccines' availability, which should be made available relatively soon, Trump and Atlas said."Within the first 24 hours of the FDA's approval under emergency use, we will have vaccines delivered within the first 24 hours," Atlas said. "And it will be done at virtually no cost to Americans. And the terms of the dosage, there will be -- it is anticipated that no later than January all the top priority people will have received the vaccine or can receive the vaccine."Atlas said 700 million doses would be available for distribution by the end of Q1.When asked if he was ready to sign off on the Oracle-TikTok deal, Trump said that there were still studies being done that he had not looked at, so he wasn't prepared to sign-off on anything."We need to see the deal," Trump said. "We need security, especially with what we've seen with respect to China and what's going on. We need security. They'll be reporting to me Thursday morning, and we'll let you know."Trump was thrilled to hear about the news that the Big Ten Conference would be playing football this season. He even encouraged the Pac-12 to play this season, even though they said they wouldn't play due to COVID-19 concerns."I want to recommend that the Pac-12 also get going because there's no reason why the Pac-12 shouldn't be playing now," Trump said. "I want to recommend to the Pac-12, you're the only one now, open up. Open up, Pac-12. Get going. I said the same thing to Big Ten, and they did. And now I'm saying it to Pac-12. You have time. You really have time right now. Get going."Trump also mentioned that one staffer at the White House has tested positive for the virus, but clarified that the staff member had not contacted him."I have people tested when people come into the Oval Office, Trump said during the briefing. "It is like a big deal no matter who they are. Heads of countries they all get tested. I'm in sort of a different position. Maybe if I weren't in that position, I would be wearing it more. But I wear masks, and I like to wear than when I'm in hospitals. Not for me as so much for other people." 2294

President George W. Bush gave a tearful eulogy to his father, President George H.W. Bush, Wednesday at a state funeral for the 41st president of the United States. The younger Bush choked up as he quoted his father's inaugural address from 1989."In his inaugural address, the 41st President of the United States said this: 'We cannot hope to only leave our children a bigger car, a bigger bank account,'" Bush said. "'We must hope to give them a sense of what it means to be a loyal friend, a loving parent. A citizen who leaves who home, his neighborhood and his town a better place than when he found it. What do we want the men and women who work with us to say when we are no longer there? That we were more driven to succeed than anyone around us, or that we stopped to ask if a sick child had gotten better and stayed a moment there to trade a moment of friendship.'"Photos: State funeral for George H.W. Bush"Well, Dad, we're going to remember you for exactly that and much more," Bush continued. "And we're going to miss you. Your decency, sincerity and kind soul will stay with us forever. So through the tears, let us know the blessing of knowing and loving you, a great and noble man. The best father a son or daughter could have."At this point, Bush stuttered and took a moment to choke back tears."And in our grief, let us smile knowing that dad is hugging Robin and holding Mom's hand again."Robin was George H.W. Bush's second child and first daughter. She died of cancer in 1953 at the age of 3.Watch Bush's eulogy to his father in the player below.Alex Hider is a writer for the E.W. Scripps National Desk. President Donald Trump urged his supporters Friday not to boycott two Senate runoff elections in Georgia in January that will determine which party has control of the chamber. His tweet comes after Politico reported Thursday that his continued attacks on Georgia's electoral system have disillusioned his voters and caused some to call for a boycott of the vote.In addition, Politico reports that some of Trump's most ardent supporters on Twitter and the conservative-learning social media platform Parler are accusing the two Republican candidates up for election — Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue — of being "insufficiently pro-Trump" and complicit in the voter fraud conspiracies. On Friday morning, Trump retweeted a Newsmax story about a potential boycott of the Georgia vote. In his tweet, Trump tried to walk the line between continuing to push fraud claims while still rallying the vote."No, the 2020 Election was a total scam, we won by a lot (and will hopefully turn over the fraudulent result), but we must get out and help David and Kelly, two GREAT people," he tweeted. "Otherwise we are playing right into the hands of some very sick people. I will be in Georgia on Saturday!" 1202

RADCLIFF, Ky. (AP) — A Kentucky couple who refused to sign a self-isolation order when one tested positive for the coronavirus said they were placed under house arrest.Elizabeth Linscott of Radcliff told news outlets she was tested July 11 for COVID-19 because she wanted to visit her grandparents and received a positive result the next day. Linscott said the health department emailed her a form to sign that said she would check in daily, self isolate and let officials know if she has to be treated at the hospital. The form said the isolation order is to “prevent the introduction, transmission and spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus in this state.”Linscott said she declined to sign because of one sentence: “I will not travel by any public, commercial or health care conveyance such as ambulance, bus, taxi, airplane, train or boat without the prior approval of the Department of Public Health.”“I could not comply to having to call the public health department prior if I had an emergency or I had to go pick something up for my child or myself as a necessity and could not wait,” Linscott said. When she declined to sign the form she said she was told the case would be escalated and on July 16, Linscott said she and her husband were placed under house arrest with ankle monitors.Hardin County Sheriff John Ward said his office was on hand to execute court documents from a Hardin County Circuit Court judge. It was the first time his office executed such an order, he said.Lincoln Trail District Health Department spokeswoman Terrie Burgan declined to comment on the matter to protect the privacy of the family. 1630
