A woman from New Zealand and a man from Australia took their love of aviation (and each other) to new heights by tying the knot 37,000 feet in the air.Australian David Valliant and New Zealander Cathy Valliant officially said "I do" on a commercial Jetstar Flight 201 from Sydney to Auckland.As the plane flew between their two countries, the couple pledged their love and commitment to each other in a special ceremony at the front of the aircraft's cabin. They tied the knot as they hit the halfway point between their home countries.A Jetstar ground crew member acted as officiant as the plane's passengers and crew looked on."It was the most amazing experience and something we will remember for the rest of our lives," said Cathy Valliant in a statement.The couple met online in 2011 while playing the computer game "Airport City" and met in person for the first time two years later at Sydney airport."Our love of aviation is what brought us together," Cathy said.The legal wedding ceremony took place at Sydney Airport ahead of takeoff, but it was the ceremony in the sky that was truly memorable.A few years later, her soon-to-be husband had planned to propose onboard a flight from Brisbane to Melbourne but nerves got the better of him, Cathy said. "He eventually proposed that evening," she added.Cathy said she wanted to do "something really memorable" for their wedding and so posted on Jetstar's Facebook page about her idea to get hitched in the air."We wanted it to symbolize our love for aviation, our love for Australia and New Zealand and our love for each other. I thought: I'll be cheeky and ask Jetstar," she said.The airline agreed and made the arrangements for the couple's dream wedding in the sky.A representative for Jetstar explains to CNN that "all customers [who had been booked on the flight] received an email beforehand saying there was going to be filming," though the wedding details were not included. Travelers who wanted to change their flights were able to do so for no charge."It was a really special occasion and definitely the first time I've conducted a wedding in the air!" said Robyn Holt, the ground crew member who acted as the officiant. She agreed to perform the service at no cost."Being a part of Cathy and David's day and celebrating their love and their passion for aviation was unforgettable. A Northeast Ohio couple is suing a day care in Bay Village, claiming staff members held down their son and physically restrained him because he wouldn't take a nap.The lawsuit lists as defendants the day care itself, Bay Village Kiddie Kollege, as well as the owner of the day care, the administrator and three employees believed to be involved in the incident.January 17, 2019On January 17, 2019, Melissa Laubenthal was in her kitchen with her six-week-old son when her husband, Will Kesling, came home with their toddler son and told her they had to look at him right away.When Kesling picked up his son, who was nearly 2.5 years old, at Bay Village Kiddie Kollege, the day care he'd attended since he was three months old, he said his son was sitting with a teacher, crying. He said that the teacher said there was a "sheet up front for him," which Kesling assumed was an incident report, typically given to a parent when "your kid bumps their head or gets a scratch," Kesling said.When he went to put the child's coat on, he saw "giant bruises on his neck.""I’m like, 'What are these?' And she’s like, 'Well, there’s a sheet up front,'" Kesling said. "I was like kind of perplexed. I’m like, well, this is odd, normally you get an explanation."Another teacher up front, Kesling said, suggested that "maybe he did that himself, maybe he pinched himself" about his son's injuries."I was just dumbfounded," Kesling said.What happened nextKesling and Laubenthal fed their son dinner as Laubenthal called the day care for an explanation."'What happened, can you give me any answers here?' I got the run-around," Laubenthal said. "They wouldn’t be straightforward with me."The couple took photos of the child's injuries, then took him to the emergency room to be checked out. He later spent the night at the hospital."He had bruises on his face, on his neck, on his shoulders and on his back," Laubenthal said, recounting the incident nearly a year later and choking up."I was furious and then [the day care] tried to sweep it under the rug," Kesling said. "They tried to do an observation report as if he came to school this way and you sent him that way."The lawsuit, and the day care's responseThe lawsuit, filed by attorney Hannah Klang on behalf of the family, claims a police investigation found that staff used physical restraints and abuse because the child wouldn't take a nap.An investigation by Bay Village police narrowed down the time frame in which the child's injuries occurred, but because a security camera system in the day care was not recording on January 17, police noted in a report that they were not able to determine which exact individual caused the injuries and that there was not sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against the three day care staff members involved.The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services said that if events happened as the day care center described them, then the incident wouldn't rise to the level of needing to be reported to the state.A January 29, 2019 inspection by ODJFS investigating the complaint about that incident could not substantiate that a staff member caused bruising to the child but did substantiate a "derogatory comment."The owner of Bay Village Kiddie Kollege, who is one of the defendants listed in the lawsuit, gave News 5 a statement by phone, saying, "The safety of our children is our number one concern, and it has been for 47 years. We have not yet received the complaint and will continue to respect the privacy of our children, families and employees. Unable to comment further at this point."The aftermathKesling and Laubenthal said their son was traumatized after the incident."Regression in terms of his speech and bedtime and potty and all of the things that he was able to do well. It was really hard," Laubenthal said.Laubenthal added that her son had seen a sleep specialist and play therapist but also experienced night terrors. He is now back in a day care setting, according to his parents, but they don't know what the long-term effects of this incident might be."I don’t know what he really remembers and that’s what’s so scary about this, so we don’t know what we’re dealing with," Laubenthal said. "But my hope is that he would be a happy, well-adjusted little guy."That also makes it difficult to ask for damages in a case like this, according to attorney Hannah Klang."One of the toughest parts about a case like this is that you’re dealing with a child who has now had an adverse child experience," Klang said. "You don’t know how that’s going to materialize later on in life, so you don’t know what treatment he’s going to end up needing later on."For now, these parents want someone to answer for what happened to their child."People pay good money and trust this place with the care of their little ones," Kesling said. Airlines are holding off on orders for Boeing's 737 Max — the latest sign of how deeply the company's best-selling jet has been thrown into crisis.Boeing released data Tuesday that showed only 10 of the planes were ordered in the first two months of 2019. There were no orders in March, the month that a 737 Max jet flown by Ethiopian Airlines pilots crashed in that country, killing everyone aboard. It was the second fatal crash involving a Max in recent months.That small number compares to 112 orders for the plane in the first quarter of 2018. At that time, Southwest Airlines had ordered 40 of the jets, while Ryanair ordered 25.Orders for Boeing's other commercial jets actually increased slightly. The company sold 85 other commercial jets last quarter, compared to 68 a year earlier. But the sales data for the Max gives the clearest picture yet of how much scrutiny of that model could be hurting Boeing's bottom line.Investigators are still probing the cause of the Ethiopian crash, as well as the other Max crash involving a Lion Air jet last October. The two accidents killed 346 people in all, and eventually prompted the grounding of all 737 Max planes last month. Boeing also halted deliveries and announced last week that it was scaling back production of the 737 Max.The focus of the crash investigations is the plane's automatic safety system, for which Boeing says it is developing a software fix. The fatal crashes are not the only cause of the sales drop, said Richard Aboulafia, aerospace analyst for the Teal Group. He attributed much of the change to the massive number of orders for the next generation of single-aisle jets that both Boeing and rival Airbus had previously booked.Airbus actually had worse first quarter orders for its A320, its 737 Max competitor."This is the mother of all frontloaded markets," said Aboulafia.Boeing has orders for 5,000 of the 737 Max jets on its books already. So far only one airline, Indonesia's Garuda, has outright canceled an order for 50 of the 737 Max jets since the grounding.Boeing also said Tuesday that all 737 deliveries in the first quarter fell by a third, to 89 from 132 a year ago. But most of that drop was caused by the reduced production and delivery of the older version of the 737 jet that Boeing is still building for some customers. Deliveries of the the older 737 jets fell by 66% to 32. Deliveries of the 737 Max increased by 54% compared to a year ago to 57, even with a two-week halt.
