BEIJING, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam is ready to make joint efforts with China to advance the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership, a senior Vietnamese official said here Monday. Pham Quang Nghi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), made the remarks during his talks with Liu Qi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).     Liu said the two parties had increased exchanges on theory and practice of socialist construction since the two top leaders reached an important consensus on the development of Sino-Vietnamese relations last year. BEIJING, April 4 (Xinhua) -- The industrial production of China's chemical sector increased 2.4 percent year on year in the first two months, and the falling trend for major product's output was eased, according to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Friday.     The figure was calculated based on the comparable working days in the first two months, since China's Lunar New Year holiday fellin February last year, but in January this year.     Zhu Hongren, official with the MIIT said although the output expansion was marginal, the contracting trend for the production of major chemical products was eased.     Of the major 30 chemical products monitored by the ministry, 21saw output falling in the first two months, but the falling rate was tempered from that in December. In addition, three products saw output get back to growth.     To support the annual "Spring Plough" season, the output of major three chemical fertilizer rose 4.6 percent to 8.75 million tonnes through January to February.     The pesticide production grew 9.1 percent to 394,000 tonnes in the first two months, and that for February alone jumped 14.4 percent.     Zhu Hongren said despite of the easing contraction, it was too early to be optimistic, citing the chemical industry faced the most difficult condition comparing with other raw material producing sectors.     China's industrial output rose 5.2 percent year on year in the first two months, with the growth slowing from December, MIIT said last week.     The figure was 0.5 percentage point lower than in December, dragged down by plummeting exports and high inventories, according to MIIT.     Experts said the figure showed Chinese industry was still feeling the pinch of the global downturn.

BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhua) -- China's industry and commerce authorities said Friday that the number of businesses established in China rose only 0.78 percent year-on-year in 2008, much slower than an average of 5 percent growth in recent 5 years.     As of the end of 2008, the number of businesses totaled 9.71 million, up 0.78 percent, or 74,900, over the same period in 2007,the State Administration For Industry and Commerce (SAIC) said.     Private sectors and foreign-funded companies remained stable growth despite the global financial crisis. By the end of 2008, the number of private businesses stood at 6.57 million, up 9 percent, or 543,700.     The number of foreign-funded companies rose 7 percent to 434,900 last year, with total investment exceeding 2.32 trillion U.S. dollars, up 10.21 percent year-on-year.     The total registered capital of all businesses rose 12.42 percent to 43.48 trillion yuan (6.35 trillion U.S. dollars), the SAIC said.     The statistics also showed that more companies had been established in the western and central areas as the country tried to transit more industries to the regions, while the number of companies fell in more-developed eastern region due to the financial crisis.

BEIJING, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao has called for strengthened coordination among different nations on economic polices and joint efforts against trade and investment protectionism to help the world economy recover.     The international community as a whole was severely challenged in the course of tackling the global financial crisis and resuming growth in the world economy, Hu told Xinhua on Tuesday ahead of the G20 summit scheduled to open in London on Thursday.     With the impact of the global financial crisis on the real economy unfolding and deepening, priorities should be taken by various countries to adopt economic stimulus measures in line with their own situations and work hand in hand to promote growth and employment and improve the people's lives, according to Hu.     Efforts should also be made as soon as possible to stabilize the global financial market and earnestly give play to the role of finance in spurring the real economy to restore confidence of the people and enterprises, Hu said.     "The international financial system should undergo necessary reforms in an all-round, balanced, gradual and effective manner to prevent a similar crisis in the future," the president noted.     China as a responsible country would work with all the other parties attending the summit to help it yield "positive" and "practical" results, Hu said.     China pledged to give its own contribution to the recovery of world economy. The country would adhere to its fundamental national policy of opening up to the outside world and mutually beneficial and win-win strategies, Hu said.     A vigorous and more open China would not only benefit its own steady, fast growth, but help the international community fight the financial crisis and contribute to the world's peace and development, Hu said.     The country has set an 8 percent target for economic growth this year, still notably higher than the 1 percent world average estimated by the World Bank. China grew 9 percent in 2008, the slowest pace in seven years.     The global financial crisis and economic slowdown have created many difficulties for China, Hu said, citing the slump of exports and imports, slower industrial production and unemployment.     But a basket of governmental measures to stimulate domestic demand and promote economic growth have begun to take effect, he added.     Beginning in late 2008, the Chinese government has issued a comprehensive economic stimulus package including a 4 trillion yuan (585 billion U.S. dollars) investment plan and support plans for ten key industries.     The country's central bank has cut interest rates five times and lowered deposit reserve ratio four times in an effort to enhance capital fluidity.     "We have confidence, conditions and capabilities to keep a steady and rapid growth," Hu Jintao said.
