A 5th grade teacher may have been forced out because she wears a hijab. That’s the allegation against Melvindale/Northern Allen Park School District in a lawsuit filed this past week. The lawyer for Amirah Mosed said the way she was treated at work at Allendale Elementary School isn't right and in the lawsuit they allege Mosed was subjected to a hostile environment where she was told to “get a job in Dearborn” among other things, harassment that they say is against the law. “This is a woman who’s born in the U.S, who is very American and a wonderful teacher and just a great person with a sense of humor, a delightful human being,” attorney David Nacht said.Nacht said his client endured religious discrimination while she taught 5th grade. In the lawsuit against the district there are allegations Mosed was told by supervisors to resign or get fired, to “get a job in Dearborn,” told her students were not safe with her, all because she is of Yemini descent and dresses, culturally, in a hijab.”It got worse and the students loved her and she was written up and fired and it’s bologna. and its not America,” Nacht said. The allegations are discrimination and harassment on the basis of her religion. Nacht said there were no legitimate concerns about her teaching abilities.“She was just not perceived to fit the community to fit the school,” Nacht said. “What this case is really about making America safe in the workplace, for all Americans. All of us who might not fit the norm of what some boss, some principal, some local manager or vice president thinks the norm is.”Mosed was fired back in May of last year.Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit briefly reached the superintendent by phone Monday evening.Dr. Kimberly Sorranno said “no comment” before hanging up. 1845

(KGTV) -- The quest for Black Friday deals had San Diego malls packed Friday. But there were those who beat the crowds by getting their shopping done under the full moon.  "We started at like 8:30 [last night]," said one woman shopping with her sister at 4:30 a.m. at the Carlsbad Outlets. The mall had opened their Black Friday event at 6 p.m. Thursday with no closing time until 10 p.m. Friday. That meant those willing to shop all night, had free reign to scour the deals with a lot less competition.  "I think the only reason we're here at this time, said the woman, "is because there's no lines. And we can leave our kids at home. They're sleeping while we can shop."  Of course, an all night shopping event doesn't happen without workers.   "I started last night at 5pm." Said the manager of Joe's Jeans as the clock neared 5:30am.  Asked how she was holding up, she replied, "I'm doing good. I'm off in a little bit."  "Have a great day you guys." A door monitor at Tory Burch said to two customers leaving the store as she turned to others in line to get in. "I can let two in."  High end hand bags and purses, with prices slashed 50 to 75 percent, were selling fast.  Other irresistible deals were at the Disney Store.  "We've got Princess stuff. We have Toy Story stuff," said one mother sifting through bags of new toys. "It was about 250 dollars for everything in these bags. So, pretty good deal for three full bags of toys."  1567

(SAN DIEGO) -- If you like hitting the gas pedal when someone is merging into your lane, or you brake hard to send an angry message to the driver behind you, or you like to weave in and out of lanes at high speeds, then congrats: You helped San Diego make the list of the saltiest drivers in the United States.GasBuddy revealed the top 10 cities with the most aggressive drivers, studying behavior like speeding, hard braking or accelerating. The company compiled data from its Drives feature in the GasBuddy app, examining the top 30 metropolitan areas by population from Nov. 2018 to Feb. 2019, noting the frequency of an aggressive driving event. The data shows that no other city has a bigger need for speed than San Diego. According to Gas Buddy, San Diego drivers have 62% more speeding incidents than average US driver, followed by Orlando and Detroit. Los Angeles was 16th on the list. And, when it comes to being aggressive, San Diego ranked 6th in the country behind number one Los Angeles followed by Philadelphia, Sacramento, Atlanta, and San Francisco.“Frustration while driving in densely populated cities with high levels of congestion leads motorists to drive more aggressively and with more urgency. Interestingly, these are areas that typically see some of the highest gas prices in their respective states,” said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.ROAD RAGE FRIDAYS If you enjoy the slow lane or don’t feel the need to protect your lane by accelerating rapidly, then Wednesdays are for you. Hump Day sees 6% fewer aggressive driving events occurring compared to the average across the United States. On the other hand, if you're trying to avoid road rage, Fridays are the worst days to be on the streets.“The most aggressive day on the road is Friday, with 14% more aggressive driving events occurring compared to the average across the United States,” the report said.If being an aggressive driver doesn’t get you or someone else killed, then consider that road rage will drain your wallet costing some bad motorists hundreds of dollars.“Frustrated drivers can get agitated quickly, and their aggressive driving habits like speeding, rapid acceleration and braking can lower gas mileage by as much as 40 percent, costing them as much as 7 per year in additional fuel consumption,” the report said.READ THE FULL STUDY HERE 2370
