(KGTV) -- An elderly man was struck by a car and killed as he crossed an El Cajon street Wednesday night.At around 11:30 p.m., El Cajon police and paramedics were called to the intersection of Jamacha and Main Street in response to a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.Police said a pickup truck was traveling northbound on Jamacha when it hit the 80 year-old-man. Officers say the victim's leg was amputated, and he was not breathing when they arrived at the scene.The victim, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.According to police, the driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.Alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors in the incident, police said. 746

Dr. Scott Gottlieb, commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration, announced Tuesday a "blitz" on retailers?for violations related to sales of Juul and other e-cigarettes to minors.Forty warning letters were sent to brick-and-mortar retailers as a first step toward stopping underage use of e-cigarettes, the FDA said. (KGTV) — A judge increased bail for the woman accused of hitting a 9-year-old boy with her car and driving away last Thursday. Courtney Webber appeared in court for the very first time since the crash. Webber's bail was increased to 0,000. The 25-year-old is accused of running a red light and hitting the boy, on his bike, as he was crossing the street at the intersection of Sunshine Avenue and West Main Street in El Cajon. She was located about 12 hours later, hiding under a bed at her mother's Lakeside home. Court documents indicate Webber was on probation for a previous DUI conviction and had a suspended license. The 9-year-old boy hasn't been identified but attorneys tell 10News he is still recovering at a local hospital. EL CAJON, Calif. — A transgender woman is suing an El Cajon gym over the use of gender-specific locker rooms.“My weight went from 340 pounds to 195 pounds,” Christynne Wood said. She says that weight loss is attributed to the water aerobics classes she has been taking at Crunch Fitness for the last eleven years. Not only did it help Wood shed the pounds, she also shed an old identity.“I lived so many years presenting myself as a male. Because I knew that is what was expected of me, and I didn't want to make others uncomfortable. The whole time, Christynne is inside Christopher going ‘I’m suffocating, please don’t let me die,'” Wood said. Wood says she has identified as female since childhood. But she did not begin her transition from male to female until July 2016.Just two months after starting hormone therapy, she says a male gym member began to harass her.“The individual comes over to me, and says something untoward, and make a threatening gesture and walks in my direction,” Wood said. Terrified, Wood says she ran out of the men's locker room and told management. At first, she was led to the upstairs men's room, where there were fewer members than the women's facility. But she claims the harassment continued."I still must transit through the place where the assault took place to get to and from the pool for my workouts, so what have you done for me?"Days later, she brought a letter from her endocrinologist, explaining her transition and asking gym staff to accommodate her in the women's locker room. Last February, she legally changed her name and gender. But Woods says it took another seven months for Crunch to finally allow her to use their women's facilities."I thought I had friends in management that so totally understood me. When that was betrayed, how would you feel?"Wood says continued years of alleged harassment and neglect for her well-being led her to sue Crunch Fitness."It makes me cry that it had to get to this degree,” Wood said. “Nobody wants to sue anyone. EL CAJON (CNS) - A 49-year-old man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of fatally shooting a 31-year-old man in an unincorporated area near El Cajon.Daniel Christopher Allen, a resident of that unincorporated area, was booked into the San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of murdering James Owen who also lived in unincorporated El Cajon, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.The shooting was reported in the 6000 block of Stallion Oaks Road, southeast of Dehesa Road and northeast of the Sycuan Resort, around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, sheriff's Lt. Thomas Seiver said.Before deputies arrived, an acquaintance of Owen drove him about a mile and a half from the shooting scene, Seiver said.Deputies stopped the vehicle on Stallion Oaks near Dehesa and found Owen inside suffering from a gunshot wound. It was not immediately clear if Allen was the driver.Owen was pronounced dead at the scene, he said. 921
