JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — An 18-year-old Florida woman who was “infatuated" with the Columbine school shooting traveled to Colorado by plane Monday, purchased a shotgun and ammunition in Littleton, Colorado, and disappeared into the foothills of Jefferson County.Authorities say Sol Pais was wanted for questioning after making undisclosed threats to area schools that prompted many of them to lock their doors for several hours Tuesday and at least 20 Denver-area school districts to cancel classes Wednesday. Pais was found dead near Mt. Evans in Colorado on Wednesday of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. She is from Surfside, Florida, in the Miami area and flew into Denver International Airport Monday.Once in Colorado, authorities said she legally purchased a pump-action shotgun and ammunition from a retailer in Littleton, Colorado, where Columbine High School is located. An unidentified FBI agent answered her parent’s phone in Florida when KMGH called a phone number listed for Pais' parents in Florida.A man who identified as Pais’ father told WPLG in Florida that he last saw his daughter Sunday and said the situation has “been a nightmare.”Authorities say she is "infatuated" with the Columbine High School shooting and made undisclosed threats to area schools. She is described as 5-foot-5 inches tall, with brown hair. She was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, camouflage pants and black boots. 1462

If you're traveling this holiday season, but just haven't had time to book your flights, travel experts say it's not too late.Travel expert Kelly Rizzo with Hotwire and Eat Travel Rock says the best time to book a holiday flight is about 21 days before the holiday. That means the first week of November is the sweet spot for Thanksgiving travel. "Always look for those middle of the week deals and coming back during the middle of the week too,” said Rizzo. “And also some of those late night flights are going to be more affordable than right in the afternoon."Shopping five days before is the most expensive. Usually during the holiday season, many travel with family. Kelly suggests taking Jet Blue. It has a lot of leg room for adults and has great snacks and free Wi-Fi for kids.Southwest is another family friendly airline. Right now, they are having a flash sale on flights for . They only apply to certain days of the week. So, if you are flexible, then take advantage because it ends midnight on October 17.If you haven't booked your flight for Christmas, you might want to wait. Kelly says Black Friday and Cyber Monday have great deals on flights, hotels and rental cars. 1198
Imagine going to a concert or sporting event and not having to wait in long lines to get inside or even having to carry things like your ticket or wallet. Those enhancements to the fan experience are exactly why Mary Haskett and her business partner created Blink Identity. "We developed a sensor that can identify people using biometric face matching at full walking speed at any light, even in total darkness," Haskett explains. Blink Identity was demonstrated at the KNOW Conference in Las Vegas, where dozens of startups specializing in identity technology featured new products. Here’s how it works: First, users register their information, like name and email address, on Blink Identity’s website. Next, users take and upload a selfie of themselves. The photo is then put into Blink’s database. The next time that user goes to an event, the facial recognition technology scans the user’s face and gives the green light to go in. If the scanner does not recognize the person, a red light appears and an alert sounds, letting security know that person isn’t authorized to enter. The technology will cut down on ticket scams and scalpers. Scalpers won't be able to buy tickets in bulk and jack up the prices, because there's no face registered to the ticket. This technology will also spot fake tickets, too. Blink is still testing the technology, but they are working with Live Nation to try to bring this technology mainstream. "The whole concept is to get rid of the piece of paper to get rid of the barcode and let your face be your ticket," Haskett says. Blink Identity hopes one day customers will be able to link their credit card and driver’s license to their account, so they can go wallet-free. 1724
